Question about 1998 Ford Explorer
I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Sport, (that's the 2 door model) I have double checked all fuses, and checked my air filter, but don't know where else to look. Can anyone help me?
Your problem is in the blower motor speed controller and it is near blower motor

CHECK THE CLUTCH CYCLE SWITCH.ALSO CALLED THE HI PRESSURE SWITCH IT IS LOCATED ON THE RECEIVER DRYER. YOU WILL FIND IT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE FIREWALL. THE A/C LINES RUN TO IT. IT IS A CYLINDER TYPE CANISTER. THE SWITCH HAS A 2 WIRE PLUG PULL THE PLUG OFF THE SWITCH AND JUMP IT WITH A PAPER CLIP OR PIECE OF WIRE. IT WILL FOOL THE SYSTEM INTO THINKING THE SWITCH IS GOOD THE TRY THE A/C IF IT KICKS ON REPLACE THE SWITCH.THOSE ARE COMMON PROBLEMS AND CHEAP AND EASY TO FIX..

Sounds like your temperature actuator is not moving or your temp door is broken. On max a-c ,coolant is shut off to your heater core allowing only cold air in.

I would say that this problem is caused be a vaccum leak. Ford was known for using vaccum in their heat/ac systems....and you loose vaccum as you press the accellerator.
I had this issue with a Grand Marquis....and was a pain to find the leak.
You really need to look over all the vaccum lines that run under the dash.
