The 4 way female harness that plugs into the 3 prong male harness resistor that attaches to the single radiator fan. The bottom left outlet on the female harness has a ground wire that shorted out. Can I splice a ground wire into that wire, even though there is a short in the wire harness? I know you are suppose to find where the short is first but, I do not know if it's coming from the fuse boxthe one under the hood or, if it's somewhere else. All the fuses and relays check out ok. GOD bless and thanks for the help.
A redundant chassis ground should work fine. If this is a switching ground controlled by computer, that won't work. I haven't looked at your diagram.
When my son bought the car, someone hooked up a ground wire from the fender well to the resistor for the fan(single fan).
The problem is, sometimes the fan will work and sometimes the fan will not work. The reason for this is, the ground wire that was hooked up to the resister on the fan was very loose.(shredding apart).Even though the female lead is chard from the short, can I still splice into the wire using the lead that had the short?
Thank you so much for your reply and your help.
The female wiring harness runs under the fuse box. I don't know if it goes to the fuse box or, somewhere else.
In other words, the fan "will" work correctly if the ground wire is secured properly.
So, I am assuming it's a redundant chassis ground!?
If it is the bottom wire in diagram, yes sir, that is a chassis ground. A jumper wire to chassis ground before the fault will work.
Thank you so much for your reply and expert advice.
GOD bless.
Good luck.

There should be two small fans. The relays control each fan high speed and low speed. One relay controls high speed both fans on another relay controls low speed one can on.
Testimonial: "So, what you are saying is, 6 speeds cannot control a single fan and, someone hooked up the wrong single fan!?"
