How to replace a radiator on a 2003 mitsubitshi lancer es

make sure the engine is cold , drain the coolant from the rad ,there will be a drain tap/bolt on the bottom of the rad ,be sure to us a container to collect the fluid as should'nt be left to run down a drain etc as is very toxic, disconnect the top and bottom hoses, there are usually two bolts either side of rad loosen these, rad may lift out if not remove the bolts and lift the rad away and out of vehicle , if the cooling fan is attached to the rad remove , will be obvious what bolts need undoing, replace this fan unit on new rad ,then refit new rad , reverse of removal , dont for get to check the drain plug is closed on the new rad , refill cooling system by adding coolant to the expansion tank, run the engine and bleed the air from system ,there will be bleed screws at various points around cooling hoses etc , allow engine to cool 1 hour min ,check coolant level top up and repeat bleeding process as neseccary good luck very straight forward job , keep me posted

Flush with fluid surpenion system why remove heating hose

surpenion system.? wow no year stated !!

what are you doing ,just a flush? of engine coolant

my guess you are reading the steps. and wonder why we do it fully

there are 2 flush ways. 1 is poor way and way 2 is ASE.

i will not mention shop way with the $10,000 machine.

1: poor way, open drain bottom rad, run water from rad cap

until drain runs clear. (ok on a 2 year old car. sure)

2 pro way.

he back flushs all cooling system parts and makes sure all flow good.

1: RAD (end to end)

2: HEATER CORE.

3: isc AND iac VALVES AND HOSES

4: THE BYpass hoses are flowing good.

other? sure. depends on engine option (size)

on my cars , IR pyro gun the rad tubes as a last check. (hot)

to be sure all tubes are working... ask.... a $15 tool , like no other.

it a choice,

Radiator cap

old post.
yes the RAD cap
car has 3 diff, engines. so. can;t be specific.
what year 2008+?
ok, allcars,
you fill it to get the block full and the Radiator to the top
the side tank , only major function is for the cool down.
during cool down it allows the RAD to **** back coolant, as she cools.
it also prevents green AF on the pavement as engine gets hot.
that second part is for pollution rules.

the car has a FSM, manual, in there are rules for your car and you opted engine.
The plumbing on all cars , all engines, very by same.
FWD, RWD, too.
as does some other options. (block eaters?)

if you read service books
it tells you, to burp the engine and rad.
I run the engine for 2 heat cycles, and then when cool
i check that the rad fluid is full to the top of the RAD.
Here is what id do , (assumes thermostat not pulled)
I fill the rad with 50% AF.
i run motor util it starts to expand, if the level drops as i run motor
I add more, then when the AF starts to leak out, I cap it off.
then fill the side tank (expanson tank) 1/2
i watch the tank for 2 days. to get out all air. in the system.
if my dash coolant gauge, shows odd readings, at any time.
say it is not constant rise to 200f , I know I have air in the system.
If true, i use burping techniques,, ASK !
All mech's know about this....
also putting a thermostat in wrong will trap air.
the stat as a bleed hole that MUST be up hill side.
or will trap air.

now I answered for you and 1billion other water cooled engine owners.

Loosing rad fluid

check the drain hole under the water pump. Check the welsh plugs in the block and head for rust stains. Have a pressure test done on the cooling system. Check for wetness under the heater.

How do i drain the radiator in a 2006 crysler 300

Locate the rad drain plug, it depends on what motor you have, it'll either be on the bottom of radiator (you might have to move the cover to get at it) or in the rear of the engine block. if you get at them i'd simply just remove the lower hose from the radiator. just make sure car is compleatly cooled down first. drain all fluid and flush in some new.

Describe your how do i replace 1993 jeep Cherokee radiator

Start steps when vehicle is cold. Drain the rad fluid - located passenger side lower bottom of the rad. When draining remove the rad cap (keep your bucket there for complete job). After empty, the tranny lines must be removed, a tool is available for this - from Parts Source or UAP. They join at the bottom of the rad, after removing (don't break the clips or lose them) keep the lines upright to avoid draining the tranny fluid. Undo the 2 bolts holding the fan shroud, slowly and gently push the shroud towards the motor (do not bend the tranny lines attached to the rad). Then lift up and move to the motor. Undo the clamps holding both rad hoses, drain the bottom hose into the bucket. Undo the 8 screws or bolts (10mm ??) holding the top plate that keeps the rad stationary - the hood latch is connected to it, move it towards the front of the vehicle. Pretend you are dismantling a bomb, one wrong move and you will be replacing more than a rad. Lift the rad straight up, watching everything in the way. With the rad on the ground with the tranny lines pointing upright, spray WD40 on the tranny lines and undo them (inspect for any holes). Be smooth when you do it or you will be buying new ones. Start with last step first when you install new rad.

How do you drain the coolant in a 2001 oldsmobile alero?

The coolant can be drained through the little drain valve on the bottom of the radiator it looks like a small tap, or a tab located on the lower right side of the rad if you are facing the front of the car ..You some times have to remove the plastic shroud from under the rad to sometimes see it also this will keep the antifreeze from making too much of a mess...NOTE... its safer to do this when engine is cold..Cooling systems are under pressure when hot..up to 15 psi.. hope you find it.
