Hi, 1997 Olds Regency 20amp fuel fuse blew while driving. I replaced the fuse and it drove fine for a week and now every time I put a new fuse in it blows when the key is turned on. Could this be the relay causing the fuse to blow?

A short or overload. Get a wiring diagram. Find the circuit. Disconnect items on that circuit one at a time. If all are disconnected and the fuse still blows, you've got a wiring harness issue.

SOURCE: 98 grand cherokee asd relay blowing fuse

The fuse it doing it's job, you have a short ( Wire that is connected to a ground, that draws too much power )

If you have an electrical schematic ( Repair manual ) find out which wires are connected to that fuse and check them for any chaffing, cuts, unnesassary twists, or corrosion.

If you have a ohm-meter, isolate the system ( by disconnecting the fuse, and other connections. Then check for any resistance on wires that should not be connected ( because you disconnected them ) by having one Lead on the wire's connector and the other meter-lead on your car's frame. A good wire will not have continuity if it is isolated.

Sound like your fuel pump is shorting out. You may need to have it replaced.

Newbie here! How to install fuel pump on 96 olds regency elite?

You might benefit from the 96 Regency Elite factory service manual purportedly available by a download for $22, if scrolling through pages or using CTRL F to hunt through a PDF is something you are comfortable with. I have no idea if it tells you to check for rust in the fuel tank. https://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/281883502-1996-oldsmobile-regency-service-and-repair-manual

The Haynes group is of course more familiar and there seems an aside mention of the 96 being covered in spite of the title. https://haynes.com/en-us/oldsmobile/regency/1997-1998

Regarding videos, I encounter such for the Olds Bravada and the Olds Aurora, both 96 models: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO3QkeMTwP0

You should be fine, if there is a difference in connectors, at least you will have the ones off of your car that you can graft onto the new ones. The colors should be the same thou.

Sounds like the computer has short in it. You can get a computer at Oreillys auto parts for around $140.00. You will need to call the part store and order the ecm and give them some info on your engine, so the replacement ecm can be programmed for your vehicle.

Where is the fuel pump fuse located on a 1992 Oldsmobile 98 Regency? The Olds runs fine except after it's on the road for approx 2 hrs it starts to lose power even if you put the gas pedal to the floor....

hi,
It is under the dash on the passenger side. There are a few fuses and 8 or 9 relays
You have to remove the underside cover to gain access to the electrical panel.
