A 1500 has a legal hauling capacity of 1000 pounds. However, the boys at GM were smart enough to realize that some of us weren't too concerned about what it weighed as long as it fit in the box. You should be okay, I've put as much as 2500 lbs. in my 1987 with no breakdowns. Just adjust you driving a little especially if the road is a little rough. Your springs will be pushed to absorb sharp bumps and you will be pushing your braking capacity. Start slowing down a little earlier and you should be okay. Hope this helps.

As long as it is not a bumper type ball you will be just fine. I recommend keeping it out of overdrive just so its easier on the truck.

When do you service the transmission on a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.8 v8

Most newer transmissions recommend checking the fluid at every oil change. With heavy driving (towing, hauling, mountains, etc.) it should be serviced at 60,000 miles. Regular driving with little towing and hauling, it can easily go 100,000 miles. You can also check the wear by looking at your transmission fluid. If it is very dark and smells "burnt" you should have it serviced and have a tech check for unusual wear and damage.

My 1996 Chevy Silverado blew out transmission fluid yesterday hauling a trailer. I added 3 quarts of tranny fluid and dumped the load and it got me home. I can see the blown out fluid on the underside, but...

There should be an air vent on the top of the trans and that is probably where the fluid came out. You definately don't have enough coolng capacity for your trans for the loads you are hauling. You need to install an aftermarket cooling system to prevent this from happening again. It will also extend the life of your transmission. Hope this helps.

My chevy silverado 2000 tow haul wont work, light wont come on at all

check all your fuses. If your lucky you might find one the is blown and could be related If not fuse related then you need to remove the platic steering column cover. Under there at the end of the shift lever you will find two small wires that are for the tow haul button. These wires get brittle and break over time from shift level movement it seems. You will have to repair the broken wire and you should be good to go!

Tow/haul does not work on 2000 chevy truck. whereis fuse?

I had a problem with my tow/haul button not working. I came to find out that the gear shift had cut the wire running to the button in two. You may want to check that.
