Ran very low on gas after quarter tank fill ran rough after shutting off and sitting went to start and at first turned over but as soon as gas pedal was pushed it stalled now just cranks no start
Good afternoon,
My 2004 Durango was doing this even after I changed the fuel pump. I found the problem. There was NO power getting to the fuel pump. I found the FUEL PUMP RELAY and ran a new wire from the FUEL PUMP RELAY to the FUEL PUMP and it fired right up. Please check your power wire.
Something to think about. You should never let a gas tank run out or low as this is where any dirt settles at the bottom of the tank. I have seen a problem like yours and the fuel filter was plugged because of dirt in the bottom of the tank. Should never let a tank get lower than a quarter of a tank.

can you hear fuel pump run/if not get another person to crank while you hit gas tank with hammer if car starts you should take to shop

It could be a very not noticeable leak in the fuel line or the fuel pump could be picking up trash. Also your gas tank makes a small amount of condensation which may be picked up through the pump which could choke out the motor of gas. The best thing to do is to take all of the gas out of the tank and check for rust if its a metal gas tank. Also if there is water from the condensation in the gas, I would not run the gas that you take out of it.

You should Replace both the Fuel Pump and the Fuel Filter for this Low Preassure Issue and the No Start Issue Both.

Has the car been running one day and won't start the next and thats why you replaced those parts? This may be the distributor ignition modual later then when it is going out can act like its got demon in it. This modualator will shut power down to your fuel pump.
Now you can try something first though. Run a wire from a hot wire to the fuel pump and see if it will start and run while that wire is hooked up.
If it does then you can find a wire that only becomes hot when the key is turned on so the pump won't run all the time and only when the car is running. This is called gerry riggen in the service and not the proper way to do it. You may get an engine line on because of it too which will put the computer into trouble mode and cut your power down. But maybe not. Try it and see what takes place. If it still won't start then we need to look into testing the ignition modualator. Keep me informed and I will be glad to help you in the matter as well. Raz
