If you can lay it down the motor is working. The part of the switch that brings the seat back up is now working.take the switch off with the wires connected test for power when you place the switch in the go back up position,if no power replace the switch.

Is this vehicle equipped with power seats? If so, it's the power seat control switch (99%), unless the wiring under the seat has been damaged.

My 2006 Hyundai Sonata driver side power seat reclined back but I can't get it to recline back up. I can't drive safely like that. The sunvisor will not stay up, it keep falling down when I drive.

the switch in the drivers seat is bad. very common. if you had access to some good jumper wires you could jump across the motor circuit and make the seat go up but you would have to be a good " doityourselfer" . that switch isn't hard to replace though. you will also need a new sunvisor. it should be held up with two screws that are hidden by a plastic trim piece.

Recalls are something you ask a service manager
at a dealership. Recalls ,unless the Govt gets involved,
are dealer only issues & seldom anything coming
your way when the warrantee runs out

Both issues will have to be checked out & repaired
as necessary at your expense

Hi

Check the wiring under the seat, they often snag and it will cut into the wire, so what happens is to make it go forward it will send the power down the motor one way but when you are pushing back that wire may be slightly cut or touching, it definitely sounds like a wiring fault.

My remote wont' work

Was it dropped or thrown? Did you change the battery, could it be installed upside down? Did you try it while sitting in the driver seat? The module is usually located just below the radio in the dash. Good luck!

Hyundai sonata 2006 power seat will move forward but not backward. Other seat adjustments seam to work fine

it seems as though the seat switch has gone bad, if the seat moves forward then your motor should be fine, so it is either the switch or the wires leading to the switch, , to check the wires attach them to another part of the seat, if that works then your switch itself is bad

Trouble With Seat Controls

There is an Open Campaign on the 06 Sonata - POWER SEAT SWITCH REPLACEMENT
(CAMPAIGN T82), but not on the 2001 sonata. If a 2001, it would be out of warranty - the control switch is most probably the problem... replace the switch. However, you wrote 2009 Hyundai Soinata - that would still be under warranty. Take it into a Hyundai Service Department - they'll diagnose the problem and fix it.
