Question about 1999 Lincoln Town Car

2 Answers

I am replacing a blower motor on a 1999 Lincoln Towncar but can't get it out due to the plastic fender being in the way. Does this have to "go" and if so, what is the best way to remove it and still get it back?

There is no way to get at this from below. However I did replace the motor and what I did was push down on the plastic inner fender and it flexed out of the way and allowed me to finish the job. It popped up as soon as I let off of it. Running smooth for sure.

There are two screws in the fender liner to remove, then you can tuck the liner out of the way enough to sneak the blower motor past it. Do not remove the liner completely, it will be a royal pain to get back in. Just take the screws out and pull outward on the liner and you will get just enough room to get the motor out.

You may be able to get at it from underneath.

I also recommend removing either fender, exhaust manifold heat shield, and move any fuel lines and wires out of the way.

Heater fuse keeps blowing

The brushes and armature are worn on blower motor drawing too many amps. You need a new one. they are easy to put in since the plastic inner fender flexes.
