Have you checked and topped up the coolant and engine oil? These are the first things to turn the light on and they have sensors that could shut the engine down if they are too low.

If you can get some one that has a scan tool and can pull the code from the ECM than i may be able to help you bet the engine light can be on for many, many reasons...

Tcs light flashes and p0340 code

P0340 code means "Something" is wrong in the timing...
from CMP (Camshaft Position sensor) to the crankshaft bolt.

Very first thing, verify connectors are clean and shiny.
clear all codes, even hard codes.

Engine light is on, car wont stay on

check the fuses , you can have a o2 sensor fuse open, also check the wiring because o2s are close to the cats or manifoldss some time they burn and get shorted.., other thing you can do is unplug the o2s and drive it like that and see if it shuts off , if it doesn't so the problem is around that sensor...hope this help..

Engine light on

You need to have the code read to determine what is the problem., Some of the major auto parts stores can run a free diagnostic for you. Post what the code is and I can help you further.
