2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Electrical Problem

I have a 2002 Jeep GC and we are having a weird electrical problem. This only happens about 1 per month and when we take it to the dealer of course they can't replicate it. The issue is as follows. I put the key in the ignition and try to start the vehicle and nothing happens like the car is completely dead. No turnover what so ever. Then all of the gauges start going up and down getting faster and faster and making a clicking noise like the car is possessed. The key is in the ignition but in the off position. I then come back to the car 10 to 15 minutes later and the car cranks like nothing ever happened. Any ideas?

I have a 2002 jeep grand cherokee as well and having the same issue except I found that if I keep trying to start it eventually starts on the 10 th try or so. Did you find out what it was? I had the same luck at the dealer.

Try cleaning both battery connectors--both cable ends and posts with a common internal/external brush set available at auto supply dealers. Apply a corrosion inhibitor grease (from the same dealers) liberally to insides and outsides of posts and cable ends. Check the far ends of both cables for tightness and lack of corrosion.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 8Cyl4.7L When when driving over 50 miles per hour will lose all power whats wrong?

When you say it loses power, do you mean electrical power or engine power ?
You would need to look at the fuse boxes for a loss of electrical power, and use a scanner or code reader to check the computer for trouble codes for a loss of engine power.

I had this problem with my 01 Jeep GC 4L. about a month ago. My fix was the fan relay located on the passenger side fender well under the battery tray and headlight assy. had to remove both to get to the relay.

How to disconnect the electrical plug from the old tail light on my 2002 Grand Cherokee Jeep.

looked thru manual and there is nothing I can find. I'm sure it's a twist lock fixture. I've had mine out a few times to change lamps but don't remember exactly. Look at it in very good light and you'll figure it out.

My 2002 Jeep GC has over 90,000 miles on it..warranty issue....

Unless you had warranty transferred, your probably out of luck, but to confirm, call a Chrysler/Jeep dealer, ask for service dept. and service writer or manager can tell you by your VIN#, so have it ready, as well as your current mileage.
