Question about 1994 Chrysler Concorde

1 Answer

Transmission works fine in N & R, but not in Drive.

My transmission is fine in Neutral and Reverse, but when I go to start the car in the morning I need to wait 30 sec to 1 min in order to have the Drive catch and start working. If the car is heated up, I can shut it off, get out of the car, go into a store and when I come back it is still fine and able to work in Drive. What is the problem with the trans?

The transmission shifts fine in drive, but when going through the geers, Park works, Reverse acts like park, Neutral acts like drive, Drive works, 2nd and 1st work. Any Ideas?

Hi Ken:
Sounds as if the linkage is out of adjustment. Did something specific happen to cause this to start to occur? If you look at the linkage, there will be some point where you can shorten or lengthen the rod that attaches to a lever on the transmission. One way will make it better, the other will make it worse.

"Hi I Have A 2006 Lincoln Zephyr And unfortunately I Have The Dreaded Transmission Problem. My Girlfriend Went To Work Came Back Home And The Car SaT All Weekend. Monday Morning I Can't Go To Work , Car...

First check the transmission fluid level. Low fluid level acts like the transmission is in neutral.

The transmission is not difficult to remove. One way is to remove the engine and transmission out through the hood. Another way is to put the car on a lift and lower the transmission. Either way, it is very heavy and requires special equipment to handle. Transmission change is a job for a shop with the proper equipment.

Transmission issue w/Ford Taurus?

Sorry to tell you this. You have an AXOD/AX4N Transmission and it is going bad on you. Soon, it is going to strand you on the road.

This Transmission is a Money Maker for the Mechanics and Transmission shops around the world.

Some people will put Lucas into their transmissions to extend the life of the Transmission but there are people who do that and cause it do DIE!!!! and I mean Immediately.

I am sorry to give you the bad news but at least it is Honest...

Car won't go into gear, only neutral

Too much trans fluid would not prevent it from going into gear. Do you have a check engine light on? This is probably going to be expensive. Get it to a transmission shop.

I am sorry to say you are losing the transmission, these symptoms are of an automatic on the way out. Take it to any Aamco transmission (and others like them) and they will do a preliminary diagnostic for free in most cases so you have some idea as to cost. If you do need a trans rebuild it will run about $2000.00.

I have a 2001 f150 and it wont go into reverse. when i put it in park that works fine then when i put it in reverse it acts like its in neutral and neutral works fine and drive, 1st, and 2nd all work fine....

I wrote an answer to this once,I thought. How many miles/years on your old transmission oil and filter? There might be dirt in the valve body or servo.
If it were mine, I'd put the correct amount of SEA-FOAM TRANSMISSION Treatment into it,follow the directions, and then do a flush and fill with new filter of my transmission.
When you rev it will it kick into reverse? don-ohio (:^)

Jumps when I pull away first thing in the morning, no problem when warm (1999 Jetta GL)

the same thing happend to my 1996 jetta trek. when u put it in reverse to start off anywhere its perfectly fine. but when u put it into drive it stalls for a few seconds than jumps.
The transmission is going to go out on you anyday.
mine blew on me about a month when this started happening to me.
i was driving and the car just randomly went into neutral, tried all the gears and all i had was reverse.

took it to 2 different places to get it fixed, 1st place asked $3500, 2nd place asked $2500.
too much money so we had a family friend put a rebuilt tranny in for $1600.
