You can tell if the fuel pump is working when you turn the car to the "on" position, not cranking it over, but just on, you should hear the pump prime.

Im not sure how hard they are to change however, if it's an in-tank filter, you need to drain, and drop the tank to change it.

When you turn your car to the "on" position, without cranking, you should be able to hear a humming sound, that's the fuel pump primeing itself.

Check for fuses if you cant hear it.

As for replacing it, i think that's a in-tank pump, which means you would need to drain the tank, drop it, and access the pump, if it is even accessable ( not sure )

But i would try to check fuses and see if you can hear it first.

Also, make sure your fuel filter isnt clogged.

That's on the right side, just infront of the rear tire, mounted on the frame.

2003 ford crown victoria shuts off when driving i try to start it up it just cranks but wont start. Already changed the fuel pump and spark plugs and that dont seem to work. Any one please Help??

You'll first need to find out if you are lacking fuel or spark to know where to go next. Do a basic test for fuel pressure with a gauge and spark at the plugs when it fails to start.

Is it hard to change a fuel pump for aford crwn vic 1988 and how long?

The hardest part about replacing the fuel pump is wrestling down your fuel tank. The pump is inside of the tank and requires tank removal. As long as you own a couple of jackstands and a floor jack, you will have a fairly easy time replacing the pump itself. This should take the weekend warrior about four to five hours labor time.I hope I could help!!! Thanks for using Fixya!!!

My fuel pump works but the sender doesnt what can i do (1988 ford crown victoria)

Take out the sender from the tank and clean it. If it's too corroded buy a new one. If you can't find a new one you will have to buy one from a scrapyard or adapt an older Ford one .
