Question about 2002 Dodge Durango

Dad's Dodge Durango light problems

My dad has had a 2001 Dodge Durango SLT for one year, and the interior lights flicker when the car is off, and the power locks don't work, and at night when driving the head lights flicker or don't work at all. There is a Electrical Recall, but he also gave our neighbor a jump-start. Is that the reason or is it a loose connection on the battery? We don't know

The proper way to jump start is to start the car that is doing the boosting first then connect the cables, making sure that the polarities are right, negative to negative and vice versa. The reason for this is that while cranking the car doing the boosting, the the car with the low battery suffer a significant voltage spike since the sudden draw of current will pull the voltage down on a weak battery, and when the car do start, the voltage suddenly goes up, adding to that, the alternator bring the voltage even higher. Electronic circuits are sesitive to these voltage spikes. Still I doubt your problem is caused by these unless theses things you are having problems with are controlled electronic,.

Your Durango possibly needs a CTM or Central Timing Module. The module is located behind the kick panel down by the drivers feet on the left.

The repair commands a ~$500 price for parts and labor, and they will need both your remote fobs to program them to the system.

2001 Dodge Durango, headlights flicker

I had a similar problem on my 2001 Caravan. Turned out to be a loose connection between the frame control module and the fuse box. I unscrewed the frame/front control module from the fuse box and bent the tabs slightly to make better contact. Then tighten down the module securley. Need star driver to loosen screws

Headlights and interior lights flicker.

Sounds like a break in the grounding wire. Look in your manual to see if they share a commen ground or connect to the body/frame at a common bolt. The bolt could be loose
