SOURCE: how do I replace the probe

Yes and no the reason they ask you to cut them is the lenght of the wire does affect some of the probes (thermistor) it reads resistence and the longer the wire the more it will read if you want it to be for sure your model is this type do it the right way and pull the oven if you want to cut it in place then try the oven like that if you are happy with the temps then leave it the reason the wire wont pull out the is a zip strap holding it in the wire bundle behind the back wall.Hope this helps

SOURCE: Replacing a 30 inch wall oven -

a number of solutions for your problem a little smaller better then a little larger, iv seen depending on surrounding cabinetry, either wood fill strips, lexan(plastic) strip added as a filler. depending on what the installation guide recommends for opening , that is all that would be required what you fill if with will be a purely asthetic choice

SOURCE: Set probe temperature

If i remember correctly i believe this is actually a wiring issue. you would need to turn the power off open the control panel. and look for a control board with the probe connection on it. there should be a tech sheet in the compartment to help you identify it however if it is the problem they would be purple wires on the connector that need to be reversed.

SOURCE: kitchenaid display reads insert temperature

We just had this problem with our Kitchenaid Superba electric oven. It started beeping for no reason and showed the probe symbol. I actually never used this probe, ever! Call to the tech people: go get a service man! right...
My husband, smarty pants, lol, put a bowl of water into the oven, plugged the probe in and dunked it into the bowl with water, set the temperature to 85 C (that would be 200 F, I believe, but better check it in the manual) and let it heat up. (In any case, set it lower than water boiling temperature!)
That actually did the trick! Once it reached the set temperature, it shut itself off and the probe light went off! Yeah! good hubby!

My maytag oven is showing a f3 code model #che98oobcb

The "F3" fault code is indicating an oven temperature sensor failure or a temperature sensor circuit failure. The oven temperature sensor could be open or shorted. Test the sensor for proper ohm value, frayed or pinch wiring, or connector damage. The oven temperature sensor probe can be found sticking out from the rear wall inside the oven cavity. It will need to be disconnected and tested with an ohm meter. I added a chart in the image below of the resistances of the oven sensor at specific temperatures. At normal ambient room temperature, the oven temperature sensor should have a resistance value of 1050-1100 ohms. See image below. The oven temperature sensor is part #12001655. richroth_137.jpg

Maytag gemini oven tough controls won't work --

Check the door switch and the temperature probe. If they are ok, then the problem is likely in the control board. These boards can be rebuilt.

F2 and a beeping noise just replaced the 350 degree sign on my oven as I was baking supper. What's up?

This is a fault code for the oven temperature sensor.
The temperature probe is secured in the top of the inside back wall of the oven. Unplug the range to disconnect electrical power. Open the oven door and remove the racks. Remove the screws that secure the oven temperature sensor probe in the back wall of the oven. Carefully pull the sensor into the oven until you get to the wire harness disconnect plug. Unplug the sensor probe. Do not let the wire harness **** back through the opening in the back of the oven. Check the resistance of the probe with a volt/ohm meter. At room temperature, you should measure about 1100 ohms of resistance. If the resistance is bad, replacing the oven temperature sensor probe. This part can be purchased at www.appliancehelponline.com

My oven displays error f31. It beeps and when I press clear the beeping stops. But if I try and set the temp it reverts back to f31

The F31 fault code indicates a problem with the oven temperature sensor probe. Since you are getting the F31 fault code, you will not likely measure this resistance. If the resistance is bad, replacing the oven temperature sensor probe .This should fix your problem. You can order this part from the www.appliancehelponline.com If the resistance of the temperature probe is normal (1100 ohms), then I recommend that you access the electronic oven control board in the console (with the range still unplugged ). Remove the upper back panel. Pull the P5 connector on the control board and measure the resistance through the purple wires (pins 12 and 13 as shown below) to check the resistance of the temperature probe through the circuit that connects to the board. If the resistance is drastically different than the 1100 ohms measured at the probe, then the wire harness is bad and will need to be replaced. If you measure the proper resistance through this wiring harness at the control board and the connections are good, then the electronic oven control board will need to be replaced.

F30 error code

The F30 error code indicates that the electronic oven control board detects an "open" oven temperature sensor probe circuit.
This is usually caused by a failed oven temperature sensor probe.

Replacing this component will likely fix your problem.

You can order this part from www.searspartsdirect.com website.

If you replace this part yourself, be sure that you unplug the range to disconnect electrical power before accessing this component.

On some models, you can replace the probe by removing the screws that mount this component to the inside back wall of the oven.
Carefully pull the probe inside the oven cavity until you encounter the wire harness disconnect plug.
Unplug the sensor and replace it with the new one. Mount the new probe on the back wall of the oven.

On some models, you have to remove the lower back oven panel to access the sensor probe.

If you replace the probe and still have this problem, you will need to unplug the range and measure the resistance through the violet wires that plug into the control board (this is where the sensor probe circuit is connected to the control board).
If the resistance through the oven temperature sensor probe circuit is normal (about 1100 ohms at room temperature) then the electronic oven control board will need to be replaced.

The F10 indicates that the electronic oven control board senses a runaway temperature condition in the oven through the oven sensor circuit.
This can be caused by a faulty oven temperature sensor probe or a failed electronic control board.
Oven temperature is detected by the control board as it monitors the resistance through the oven temperature sensor circuit.
You could have a failed oven temperature sensor, a wiring harness failure, an open thermal switch or a failed electronic oven control board that would cause this problem.
The first component to check would normally be the oven temperature sensor probe.
If you have a volt/ohm meter, you can shut off the breaker for the range and remove the screws that mount this sensor to the back wall of the oven.
Carefully pull the wire harness into the oven cavity until you get to the wire harness disconnect plug.
You should have enough slack to pull it this far into the oven.
Disconnect the sensor but do not let the wire harness retract back through the back wall of the oven or it will be hard to reconnect.
Measure the resistance of the oven temperature sensor with your volt/ohm meter. At room temperature, the resistance should measure around 1100 ohms.
The resistance chart is shown in the image below.

If the resistance is above 2200 ohms at room temperature, then the sensor probe is causing the F10 error code and will need to be replaced.

You can order a new sensor probe from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the sensor is 316217002.

If the resistance is normal, then one of the other causes mentioned above is producing your F10 code.
You would need to access the electronic oven control board (Timer) in the console and check the resistance at the sensor circuit connection to the control board as the next step in troubleshooting this problem.
