SOURCE: dash lights come on when I press the brake peddle
Sounds as if your getting a back feed. Most likely from the brake light bulbs (part number 1157). Take out the brake light bulbs and see if the dash lights still come on when you step on the brakes. If so check the lead contacts on bulbs, sometimes they get squished/corroded and jump both contacts, replace bulbs with new and recheck. Hope this helps.
SOURCE: remove and install battery in 2006 trailblazer ss
I actually have one of these..lol It is not difficult. remove ground wire first then positive. it will have a hold down clamp on the side of the battery on one side. It will be most probably be a 13 mm. remove this and then reverse precedure to install. You will loose your memory on all your electronics if you do not supply voltage to your cigarette light plug. It will not hurt anything but your car will have to be programmed, ie radio stations theft lock on radio if it has one, and it will take your car about 100 miles to relearn and callibrate the on board computer. I hope this helps you some.

check the little switch behind the brake pedal, known as a brake switch

i've got a 2003, and i believe the parts and procedures are the same for the years. there are screws in the dash trim by the ciggarette lighter, and more on the underneath of the dash pad where the gauge cluster is. then carefully pop the dash trim out. there are retaining clips that hold it in besides the screws. they should pop out without too much effort. i'd start near the radio and be careful. there also may be two more screws near the bottom of the steering wheel that you'll have to remove the trim below it to get at.

once you disconnect the battery your body control module loses power and memory you have to get some one with a scanner with reprogramming capabilities and have the computers reset ,dealer?
