I have a 2004 jeep grand cheroke lorado and just had the right rear axel replaced and it is now leaking again... after only two months... is this a reacuring problem?

You should not have to keep doing this repair. I suggest that you return to the mechanic and have him redo the job correctly.

There is more than just the seal, the axle needs to be undamaged at the seal surface, and the bearing has to hold the axle true. Any movement will allow a leak right away.

No.....after removing the brake caliper and rotor, Unbolt the axle retainer plate from the axle tube flange. You need a slide hammer to pull the axle out.

Drivers side rear axle is leaking, not brake fluid, has disc brakes, what do i need to do to replace seal?

i will tell you right off this is a job for a qualified mechanic, the axle has to be pulled off first you jack up that wheel dismantle the brakes and rotor and behind the axle hub are four bolts that hold on the axle remove them and axle will come off the rear end cover does not have to come off and the axle fluid also does not have to come out,but now that axle is out you will notice that a wheel bearing is holding the seal in place this is pressed in you can buy these as a set at the dealer but must be removed by a pro. as not to harm axle and it has to be pressed back in

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2wd and the driver side rear axle seal is leaking; do I have to press the bearing off the axle to replace the seal?

Yes you do.It would be a good idea to replace the bearing and the seal at the same time.Reason being is that 9 times out of 10 the bearing gets damaged in the proccess of being pressed off.
