First off you MUST buy the tool to do this, I bought mine at auto zone and it works great, the fuel lines are a snap on type and the ONLY way to release them is by using this tool, Be careful, the fuel will spray out when you release the line do not be smoking when you do this

There is 2 locations for that car.
#1 under hood passenger side, front side of shock tower,with fuel line connected to it.
#2 under car driver side, below seating area,front of fuel tank mounted on chassis. If you have the 90 Qauttro,it's under hood,pass. side, front side of strut tower, mounted on fender well.

fuel filter is is in the center of engine at the back by firewall round canister type with screw top. unscrew replace, fill with fuel. 40 -50 $

On a 2001 Audi TT Quattro the fuel filter is located forward of the fuel tank, in the right rear wheel well area. The fuel line clamps are a bit tricky. The change will improve performance. The owners manual does not even list changing the filter. But do it! use a Fram, and it fit perfectly. Good luck.
