A steady miss is more likely to be a bad/dirty spark plug or plug wire. A tune-up on the distributor will probably help too. Check the inside of the distributor cap for carbon tracks from any terminal to outer rim.

The fireing problem with my old truck could very well be that the high tension distributor coil is going out. What's the best way to check the coil?

If your old truck ( you didn't mention the age ) has a points system distributor then replace the condenser and check the point gap. Quickest way to check a coil is to replace it with a known good coil . If at any time you have left the ignition on with the engine stopped then the constant current flow will burn coils

I possess Honda Civic Ex 1995 model. I drive my car on petrol and on CNG too. Since last 2 months I m facing a problem that my car gives jerks (misses) in slow speeds i.e in 2nd or 3rd gear when I drive it...

The problem is that the CNG is not burning. Causing the miss. It is not going to have anything to do with the ignition. Other than maybe spark plugs. You can get a hotter spark plug that will ignite the CNG. If the car runs fine on petrol then the plugs are just not hot enough.

1985 Nissan 300zx seems to be "missing".

suspect 1) bad spark plug(s) - change whole set if needed, (2) failing ignition coil (3) failing
distributor component(s), or (4) worn out distributor cap and/or rotor - if these need to be changed,
change both the cap and rotor as a set.
COST: if yo do any of these repairs yourself, your parts costs would be fairly low, but getting a garage
to rebuild your distributor could be costly

I bought this gmc sierra 3/4 ton 5.7 vortec it has sit for a year and it has a miss fire all the time

If you haven't drained the gas and replaced it in the gas tank and lines then the gas is "DEAD" and lost its volatility put in some fresh high test gas and see how that does. If the truck sat on grass or gravel then moisture has gotten into the engine and causing a short probably in the spark plug wires or distributor cap is cracked. Trucks and cars should never be stored on grass or gravel they rust too fast always park on cement or asphalt.

Motor missing on my 1995 3/4 ton chevy truck. Replaced wires, plugs rotor distributor cap and coil. Still misses

compression test the cylinders... could be gasket / valve leakage so its worth a try. if low readings on any cylinder then remove head to find out problem.

Nissan truck idles fine, does not acelerate well, and misses

Try to disconnect MAF sensor(mass air flow sensor) or MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure) , I don't know which one you have , (suppose to have either one) , when engine running and see if it becomes any better , if it did , then it's your problem.
Just remember one thing , if your check engine light is off now , it will be on after you disconnect any above mentioned components.
Easy to reset , disconnect battery for 30 sec.
