Most gearbox standard transmission have two plugs, one on side, one on bottom. One to inspect and top off fluid level, one to drain.
Fluid low means leaked out. Weeping at oil seal on output flange maybe OK. Severe low level jumps out of gear or will grind when shifting.

SOURCE: Needing Gearbox code for Subaru Impreza

It should be: TY754VBAAA

It is located on the passanger side of the bellhousing. If you shine a torch down the left side of the motor at the back near the firewall where the gearbox meets the motor you shouls see a white sticker with the code on it.

Hope this helps.

Can one not fix anything inside a Subaru XV Gearbox without having to import a new one?

A bad sensor = a new gearbox? Doesn't sound right to me?

What code came on? Use an OBD scanner to pull the codes.

You could probably test the sensor yourself with a multimeter and a repair manual. The repair manual will give more information about how to test.

How do I check the transmission fluid in my 2010 Venza

You don't, the transmission is a sealed unit. No dipstick. All modern cars are this way, why? because customers overfill and damage the gearbox.

TRANSMISSION OIL CHANGE

I have a 2004 R2 - CVT fluid is to be changed every 40,000km. I've changed mine once already. Taking the drain plug out of the transmission pan drains 2-3L. New fluid is added to the CVT 'dipstick' tube, which is just behind the radiator with a black plastic head on the dipstick. A local CVT specialist sold me type NS-2 fluid, which has been working well for 12,000km. I also changed the filter on top of the transmission with a WIX 51365 which my autoparts shop found using the OEM filter part number. Hope this helps!

Subaru gearbox

Dear Customer,

Yes ,
you can do this with subaru, cause its genuine model for any type of any part modifications,

like Gearbox swap into place of 4.11 sti version 1

if you dont know how to work on a car, please refer to the trusty FSM (factory service manual). A subaru is simple enough that with $100 worth of hand tools you can do anything.
