Make sure all the fuses are ok. Check power at the bl/wh wire at the dlc if you have no power it is most likely a fuse or and open wire. Good luck.

Why won 't computer communicate with code checker

Check the cigarette lighter fuse. This is what powers the DLC. If the fuse is good, check and see if the lighter works. If not, you have a bad wire. Code readers have to have power from the car. Most scanners have there own power and will read the computer, unless the data wire is bad or the computer is bad.

No scan tool communication with 2001 with dodge dakota..why?

FIRST IS THE FUSES UNDER DASH AND UNDER HOOD FUSE BOX. OBD2 POWER IS FROM THE CIG. LIGHTER FUSE. UNPLUG PHONE CHARGER OR ANY OTHER FROM CIGARETTE LIGHTER AND TEST FOR POWER. THROTTLE IS ELECTRONIC AND CONTROL FROM PCM. IF YOU DON'T HAVE SCANNER DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND CONNECT AGAIN. SOMETIMES NEED 10 MIN. DRIVING TO LEARN THE IDLE.
GOOD LUCK

2000 Audi A6 Quattro with 2.7 power windows, door locks, interior DLC is not communicating with the computer. what could be the cause of this? all fuses are good.

Check terminal #16 (see diagram of connector) of the connector for 12 volt unswitched power, this is what powers the code reader or scan tool, if it is not hot you have a fuse issue somewhere. Did you check the under hood fuse box?

I can't get hooked to computer on truck withobd2 code reader. they won't link up. what is possible problem? I checked the fuses, all are good.

Check the fuse for the Cigg. lighter or Acc. fuse. If the fuse is blown you wont be able to communicate with the DLC because this fuse supplies power to that circuit.

U1064 code & can't check the codes on a scanner. engine starts & dies. when it was running the abs light & brake lights were on & theft & service lights were on.

Sounds like a blown fuse to one of the computers, either the ECM (engine control computer) or the BCM (body control computer). The ECM fuse should be under the hood and the BCM fuse in the cabin. The U1064 means a loss of communication on the data line between computers (64 usually is the BCM). If the computers can't communicate they will shut down the engine and set trouble codes. The other issue could be a faulty ignition switch not allowing power to a computer (but not common for cavaliers or sunfires). If fuses are good, chances are you have a faulty computer somewhere in the data line, shorting out communication.

does your cigarette lighter socket work? they run on the same fuse, if the socket has no power then the fuse has blown. good luck!

1999 vw jetta cannot communicate with obd to pass emmissions Help! Just had cat replaced.

If it can't communicate with it then replace the fuse. It could be blown. If the fuse is good then try disconnecting the battery for about an hour to reset the default values in the computer. It may not recognize the new cat. The last resort is taking it to the dealer to re-flash the drive. Good luck
