Question about 2003 Lincoln Navigator

1 Answer

2003 Lincoln Navigator floor shifter

I have a 2003 Lincoln Navigator. The plastic rod inside of the floor shifter that connects that to the bezel has broken in half. I was able to get the bezel part off from the rest of the floor shifter (we removed it at the PRNDL plate), so it is now in two pieces. I have not yet taken apart the bezel itself. The two wires connecting the bezel to the floor shifter have also disconnected, but the main cord is still okay. Do I need to buy an entire floor shifter assembly, is there a way to buy only the plastic rod that is broken, or what do I need to do? I hate to drop $650 for an entire floor shifter if I don't need to.

FLOOR MOUNTED SHIFTER STUCK IN PARK

Publication Date: January 13, 2006

LINCOLN: 2005-2006 Navigator

ISSUE: Some 2005-2006 Navigators may exhibit the floor shifter stuck in Park due to an electrical system concern or by damage from liquid intrusion.
ACTION: Follow the latest online Workshop Manual diagnostics in section 307-05. If diagnostics lead to an inoperative brake shift interlock circuit board which may have been damaged due to liquid intrusion. The brake shift interlock circuit board is located on the bezel. Replace only the bezel assembly, current service parts contain all liquid diverter design changes. Do not replace the entire shifter assembly.
