Question about GMC C1500
You should be able to remove the inside door trim panel with a couple of screwdrivers (remove screws from armrest, the rest of the panel is held on with plastic clips that need to be 'carefully' pryed out).
Then pull the panel upwards to remove (be careful to un-clip any power accessory wires that may still be attached).
Once inside, assess where the handle is broken and how much you need to replace, then either find a replacement part online or (my favorite solution) at your nearest junkyard.
It's a problem you should be able to fix (start to finish) in an afternoon, as long as you can find the replacement part locally.
