Question about 1995 Ford Windstar

Front wheel squeak and rattle on '95 Ford Windstar

Last September I had the brakes replaced on the front of my Windstar and had a slight intermittent squeak or chirp in the left front wheel. The squeaking sound would silence when ever the brakes were applied. I have since moved to another state and the noise has gotten worse and also developed a rattle in the front that does not quit when brakes are applied. I have taken it to the local Ford dealership here and they said they could not find a problem but thought the rattle was from the front struts. After replacing the struts at a cost of over $800, the problem is becoming more prevalent and annoying. I do not want to take it back to the dealership to spend another $800 for a non-fix, so can you give me an idea of what to look for?

Check the sway bar links they connect from the strut to the sway bar also if the brakes chatter try plucking the caliper off and placing a little silicone gasket sealer on the BACK of the pads

When trying to bleed the brakes on a 1998 ford windstar, i get pressure on the passenger front and driver rear, but not on the passenger rear or the driver front. Why?

Sounds like the safety valve is not centered in its fixture. What happens is the system has diagonal braking control which is used to prevent the complete loss of brake fluid. This shuts off the wheel that is losing pressure from complete fluid pressure loss One front wheel and one diagonally opposed rear wheel are used so that the car will not pull left or right when stopping.

The situation may clear if you attempt to bleed the brakes using the longest line first and progress to the shortest line last.

Front end rattle that goes away when brakes applied

the squeaking sounds like a wheel bearing going bad. And the pulling to one side is cause by unequal braking pressure caused by plugged rubber brake hose, bad calipers or wheel cylinders. Check the bearings by lifting the car with a jack, block the wheels, and use a jack stand for safety. now wiggle the tire around. If it has any play, the bearing is bad. Replace it. I would replace your brakes as well. Good luck

Front brakes are sticking but not every time

Front calliper cylinder worn/dirty.Quick fix:remove wheel, dismount calliper, use cleaning spray, brush, pump the brake just a little not to pop the cylinder out, sink it down with two screws crosed, pump it again out just enough not to pop it out, clean the best u can.Last:replace.

Ford focus 2000 squeaks front passenger side

sounds like a squealing belt or bad pulley on the engine.
If the brakes are indeed fine, then the solution is to work on the engine.
doubt if it's a wheel bearing, too.

raise the vehicle and remove the wheel. visually inspect for obvious damage. if your unsure, have it inpected by a pro. i wouldn't drive it as more damage could result or worse, brake failure.

most likeley the front calipers are hanging up and heated up the rotors warping them. the cheapest way out is jack up each side of the van and spin each tire while someone slightly presses the brake to find out what wheel has a pulsation hesitation. then pull that brake caliper off and clean and re grease the gliders that alow it to slide back and forth and cut that 1 rotor. most likeley you will need to do this to both sides and replace the pads plus check the caliper pistons that they move freely. so to sum it up you might need a complete brake job.

Renault Magane Authentique 2001 (Y)- Squeaky brakes and shaky front wheel. The brakes squeak often but not always and sometimes even squeak when brake pedal is released. Seems to squeak less or not at all...

What condition are the front disks in? is there a lip on the disks ? Now what i do when i get problems like this is to change the front pads for a good brand and not the cheapos ,also i get the hacksaw and cut a groove through the pad horizontal to the disk and this often cures the problem as for the rattle then blob of glue on the hubcap and renew the antiroll bar link rod if fitted or the bushes on the arm ,think this model has a link bar and not a bush direct onto the lower track control arm but hey iam a back street cowboy not a dealer (fit new) mechanic on one model only
