2001 ford focus engine noise

2001 ford focus 2.0l spi engine with 93000 miles on it...recently had a cylinder 2 misfire so I changed the spark plugs and plug wires. Ran fine for about a week now there is a noise coming from the engine that only happens when you accelerate. It kind of sounds like it is in to high of a gear and it is trying to catch up. I don't think there is any power loss though...

Check you put the same rated plugs in as there are a few different types they are rated from a cold plug to a hot plug which basically means the run better at the set temp

Misfire in cylinder #2

Hi Roger:
I'd start by removing the spark plug and having a good look at the tip. It should tell you a lot about what is going on. Is it oil fouled, burnt, eroded?
Then put in a fresh plug and run it for a while. Has the problem gone away? What is the condition of the spark plug lead wire? Try looking at the wires with the engine running in the dark. Can you see sparks? If so, it may be time to replace the spark plug leads.
Depending on the miles on the engine, the problem could be as simple as, it's time to change the spark plugs, to the first indication of a bad head gasket or worn piston rings.
One step at a time. Deal with the symptom to identify the problem.

1998 bmw 540i having a misfire on cylinder 5 changed the plugs and coil packs. It ran fine for a couple days, then it began again, giving me a check engine, and it's idling rough at low rpms.

Is the same cylinder causing the problem? If so take a close look at the spark plug for fuel fouling. The cylinder may be over fueled causing plug fouling. You may also have a bad coil or defective spark plug. Try swapping coil and plug with one from adjacent cylinder to see if misfire changes to that cylinder

Can you confirm cylinder two is getting spark ?
If it is, it could be something mechanical or the fuel injector.

Vehicle is showing a code PO304 on a 2001 Ford Taurus. I have changed the fuel filter, the spark plugs, the coil, the air filter all just recently. Last year, I changed out the plug wires. Does anyone have...

Do you have spark at the number four cylinder? Check that if spark is present , then you should swap the injector from four to five and see if the miss goes with the injector. If not then you will need to test the engine compression .

I have a 2001 Focus that is showing a #3 misfire, changed the spark plugs and wires and it is still running rough? What next?

had the same thing with my crown vic on the #8 cylinder. changed plugs and wires. still missing. wound up replacing the coil pack. you can check resistence of the coil between companion spark plug towers. ford marks each tower with 2 cylinder #'s. resisistence should be around 10-12 ohms

Gfs car was lacking power big time seemed like an electrical or timinmg issue so i yanked off one plug wire from the coil no change in sound, yanked the one behind that same thing(right hand side of coil...

it does sound like you have a plug lead out take one off the spark plug and plug another spark plug in to it place the plug to earth and crank the engine over there should be a spark there
also get a compression test done because if there is a brake in the head gasket between 2 cylinders then it will run rough and possably misfire
