It could be the comtressor clutch bad..
It could also mean the compressor is shot..

I have a 2007 chevy impala and the ac comperssor is locked up can I unplug it to make it free spen so I can drive it

It would depend on what is wrong with the compressor and if the belt is running something else. If it is running something else then you can not take the belt off with out loosing what else the belt is driving. If the compressor is the problem just switch the AC switch off on the dash and make sure you do not use the defroster, because that will engage the compressor and will lock the pulley. If the AC compressor is not the problem then you may just have replace the bearings on the clutch.

On the 2001 Sante Fe that year had with or without AC, I have AC but want to know if I can get the non-AC belt and simple bypass the compressor converting it to non ac??

Is the compressor locked up and this is why you want to make it non-AC? If so just remove the compressor clutch plate and you will be fine. Respond if you need instructions for this.

Could this be my compressor going out?

The AC compressor shaft is riding on a electronic clutch pack.

When the pressure need to built up the clutch will LOCK and you will see the shaft start spinning.

Start the car and max out the ac. The clutch should lock up within 2 minutes.

Listen for a click sound from the clutch.

A badly damage clutch will lock up the belt!

You DO NOT want to be anywhere near the belt because it will snap.

An AC system should last 3--6 years.

NO using the ac compressor is a bad thing.

Let an AC guy to test the low side AC line pressure.

Good luck

Ac compressor on 2002 explorer is locked how do i unlock it?

if by locked, you mean "seized", the compressor is shot. if you can live without AC, and the pully portion still rolls, you can leave it. if you need the AC, you're in for some expensive servicing.
