Question about Pontiac Sunfire

1 Answer

2001 Sunfire will just die while driving down the road. Will turn over, but won't restart. After 20 minutes or so it will usually start back up and run for awhile. Cam and Crank sensors were replaced as well as PCM. Ran great for awhile, but is now doing the same thing. Great little car when it runs, but with dying problem can only safely make short 5 minute trips.

Engine dies

if it shuts off while driving down the road. and restarts after 10 minutes, its usually a bad crank sensor that does this. it messes up timing and shuts off fuel supply.

I have a problem with my 2004 impala 3.8 V6 I will drive down the road and it will randomly die and won't start back up. It will turn over and everything but won't start. But if you let it

Possibly a crankshaft position sensor had the same problem with one of my former vehicles. Be careful buying a new one though it is an electronic part and it is not returnable at most part stores. That is what it sounds like to me though.

Have a 2001 pontiac sunfire can be driving down the road trac off light will come on and car will start running rough then die turn car off then back on push ets button then light goes out pull up on...

You have an ABS Braking System Malfunction

Just sillly for a professional to say there is nothing
wrong

Your car is not safe to use at all

Need a different repair shop & make sure they
underdstand all the details of the issue & they
write down what you tell them

I never recommend a dealer, but in your area that
may be an option. Don't take it back until they drive
100 miles with no issues

When i drive down the road it will die i wait 20 30 minutes and it will start back but does it all the time been going on for several months

get vehicle scanned to find problem code. but it sounds like a bad crank sensor. here are the symtoms,---certain timing problems will arise, but if bad will set check engine light on dash. and it will not start back up for 10-20 minutes. if engine starts at all!! have car scanned.

When I drive the lumina about 20 miles and brake to stop engine dies. Will restart in park but as soon as put in drive or reverse it instently dies after it cools about 10-15 minets can restart and drive

a bad crank sensor causes a car to shut down while driving down road. and will not start back up for about 10 minutes. have car scanned to read the problem codes. any auto parts stores will scan for free.

2001 Oldsmobile Alero, Passlock 2

There have been alot of this type problem you describe. That body style of GM car has had meny ignition issues with the PASSLOCK 2 system. The system for some reason thought it was being stolen, and shut down. The security light might not blink or come on at all in some cases. It should but may not. (if there are issues with the BCM (Body Control Module) or ECM (engine Control Module) The Chime you heard may have been a security reset indicator notice. Thlling you that the Security System incountered a problem, and was ready again.
