Question about 2003 Nissan Murano

1 Answer

I recently had a fuel pump replaced on my murano in Nevada. While I was fueling the vehicle in Wolcott IA, I noticed fuel leaking from the bottom of the vehicle. I moved the car to tha parkking area and after a few phone calls to the shop that had repaired the car, I gained access to the fuel pump. The lock ring which holds the pump in the tank cme a loose causing an opening iat the top of the tank. After several hours of trying to replace the lock ring, I installed the pump without the rubber gasket so I could drive to Chicago. I mechanic who repaired the car said that it took two people to install the lock ring. This does not sound right. What are your thoughts?

Yes it could be true if the mechanic needed an helping hand and felt he should call on another mechanic specialised in a different area from his to handle it.

1. Fuel pump issues are handled basically by an auto-electrician.

2. Tank related issues are handled by a mechanic or panel beater.

Consider he had told you the truth.

Cheers and rate this.

If this noise is when the vehicle is running it could be the fuel pump which is in the fuel tank.

Does petrol tank leaks when overfilled i fillled up the petrol in Murano 2012 and its started leaking. local mechanics checked the gasket found it missing he replaced it this stoped the leaking for a week...

Yep,breather is necessary.Breather line is draining it under the car, less dangerous.Do not feel it to the top.Replace the draining line,dust/water may find a way into the tank, later u'll have to deal it (fuel filter, cloged fuel lines, fuel pump malfunction, fuel gauge malfunction).Track the problem eliminate the hipoteses of a cracked tank, loosed fuel pump.Cheers.

My car is leaking gas and how do i find out if there is a recall on a 2006 chevy colbalt 4door sedan. i need to know where it was first sold at.

If its leaking from the fuel tank and the car was sold in ariona or nevada and the last 8 digits of the VIN number are between 67600011 and 77100076 than there is a recal involving the replacement of the fuel pump.

I don't see any other recalls for fuel leaks so if its coming from somewhere else or your vehicle does not meet the criteria you'll have to fix it on your dime.

Can you tell where it is leaking from?

Where is the Volvo s70 fuel pump located

The stock Bosch fuel pump is located in the fuel tank and can be accessed by removing the rear seat. Certain models have been recalled due to cracked flanges, permitting fuel to leak. If you smell gasoline inside or outside the vehicle or see wet fuel lines underneath the vehicle, contact your local Volvo dealer immediately. See below:
RECALL: 2001-2004 Volvo V70 NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V483000 www.nhtsa.dot.gov

Gas leaks out of my gas tank recently had a fuel pump put on could that had caused the problem

Yes, it is a very good possibility that replacing the fuel pump did cause the fuel leak at the fuel tank, especially if the vehicle did not leak fuel from the fuel tank before the fuel pump was replaced, and the seal to the fuel sending unit/fuel pump assembly might have slipped out of place or was damaged when the fuel sending unit/fuel pump assembly was installed onto the fuel tank, the fuel lines might not be properly attached to the fuel sending unit/fuel pump assembly, the filler hose to the fuel tank might not be properly tightened, or even damage to a fuel line, the fuel tank itself, or a vent, from not properly installing the fuel tank into the vehicle. Those would all be a problem with quality workmanship and if any of those reasons are responsible for the fuel leak and the repairs were done at a repair facility then they should warranty the repair for their mistake at no additional cost to you.

However, road debris could also have damaged the vehicle and that would not be anything that would be covered by a warranty, and someone who is qualified and objective should inspect the vehicle to determine exactly where the fuel leak is coming from so that a proper course of action can be decided.

Where is the fuel filter in a 2004 murano? Is it had to get to to replace?

Hi, the fuel filter is removed together with the fuel pump assembly, which is on the left side of the fuel pump and it looks like a pineapple. You can have access to the fuel pump from the rear seat cushion..

Take care
