Hello I have 1997 toyota Camry with code 450 and pending code 446 I took the gas cap off this morning with the car running and screwed it back on tight and that's where I got the pending code I hear it...

These codes usually trigger the check engine light to ON if the car is fueled or fuel tank cap is removed with the engine in start position.
To delete the codes, remove the key from ignition, remove the battery negative terminal for 5 Seconds or more. Reconnect the battery terminal, start the engine, let it idle for 10 minutes.
Error Code: P 0446
Description:
Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System, Vent Control - Circuit Malfunction
Possible Cause:
Wiring.
Evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve.
Engine control module (ECM).

Error Code: P 0450
Description:
Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Pressure Sensor - Circuit Malfunction
Possible Cause:
Wiring.
Evaporative emission (EVAP) pressure sensor.
Engine control module (ECM).

Hope that will work. If the problem persists contact a service technician.

Check engine light came on and code said to replace gas cap, did that and two weeks later check engine came on same code, then one day fuel light came on and gauge went to fueull then empty 2 times , now...

You wouldn't think a gas cap would be that important, but it is. When it's loose or cracked, fuel vapors leak out and can throw the whole fuel system off. This causes a reduction in gas mileage and increases emissions.
What causes it: If you get an error pointing to the gas cap it means fuel vapors are leaking out of your cap. This means the cap is either cracked or just wasn't tightened well enough.
What you should do: If your car isn't feeling jerky or strange when the check engine light comes on the first you should check is the gas cap. Pull over, retighten it, and take a look at the cap to see if it has any cracks in it. Continue driving and see if the check engine light turns off. Alternately, you can purchase a gas cap for about $3 at an auto parts store. All you need to do is take the old one off and screw on the new one. If you've already made it to the store, you might as well just replace it. While not car-threatening, it's good to take care of this right away to improve gas mileage.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AFTER GETTING GAS

When the Fuel Cap is not attached, your fuel tank loses pressure and a sensor detects this. This causes your Check Engine Light to come alive. Replace the cap and wait for the code to disappear or go to Autozone and have them clear the code for you.

2003 toyota sequoia trouble shooting codes Po441, 0442 (Small leak detected), and 0446. Each code appears twice.

a lot of times, this is the gas cap not being put on tightly (one of the codes) you do still have to have a scanner to turn the light out, then see what codes come up

Check engine light comes on in a 07 sebring when the gas cap is removed and the engine is started there is no change in the indicator.

this is normal, you should not have engine running when re-fueling, fuel gauge moves very slowly if key is on while fueling, turn key off and then on and should read proper level.

Check engine light keeps coming on

The 1st thing to do is find out which one of over 100 codes is stored in the engine computers memory, whenever the check engine light comes on a code for that problem is stored in memory. You can go to any Auto-Zone parts store and they will run this code read test for free, then post them back here and I will help figure out what has gone wrong.
