I have a 1998 freelander,PDF MANUAL NEEDED

I have a 1998 freelander, the clunking sound underneath is due to a component that holds the prop shaft on, being broken. The MOT guy said its very dangerous. I'm trying to download a PDF file for the part number - where can I get one, simply! I've been searching the net for over an hour. Thanks

Insignia. Why is the automatic transmission clunking?

You don't say how old the car is but if the clunk happens when you engage the gears it is likely to be the prop shaft rubber coupling know sometimes as the prop shaft donut

Did you have a look at the prop shafts universal joints if they are worn or dry? Also check the sliding joint for wear if the prop shaft has them.

Front Prop shaft bearing on freelander needs replacing again. Why?

Prop shafts are actually balanced, if the balance weight has fallen off it will keep damaging the bearing, check for a balance weight, it is like a flat piece of metal stuck to the prop, there may be more than one.

Noisey freelander

Yes, the rear diff is fcuked. It is a common fault on these models. I have a 1.8 2000 model and have now removed the rear prop. This now gives me a perfectly quiet drive, more mpg and frankly not worth getting fixed unless you really need to have 4wd. It is very common for owners to do this. Apparantly after 2001 threy used different diffs (JATCO) which are more heavy duty and don't wear out as fast!
