Will a burnt battery light in dash on a 1992 Toyota pu cause the alternator not to charge?

Your alternator is not producing current to recharge the battery. Check to see the belt is on and properly tightened. Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight. If the belt and battery are good, remove the alternator and have it checked for output. Most likely will need to be replaced.

Check the ground cable going from the battery to
alternator, then to chassis. Make sure there is no
rust at the chassis ground wire terminal, and that it
is very tight. The fusible link will be off the alternator
red power cable,usually, but not 100% on that car.
