Question about 2001 BMW 325

93 740i wih 120,000 miles stalls on occasion

While driving down the road, the engine stalls so I have to come to a complete stop and put it in park and it starts right up everytime until I get a few feet down the road then it starts right up again. When parked, I will let it idle and the engine will quit on its own. It always starts right up but I decided not to put it out on the road for safety reasons. Any ideas or suggestions to correct this problem will be appreciated.

My van won't start after driving a short distance, it will start again after 3 to 5 minutes but then will act like it's going to stall while I'm driving. What's wrong?

Hi Greg, I'm AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair in St Charles Mo

Greg, I read your complete message, but nowhere did I see that you replaced the Cam Sensor. The EGR will cause it to stall at stops but usually will not prevent it from restarting. I would try replacing the Cam Sensor before anything else. If you should need further assistance go to my website by clicking here: Auto Repair

Mazda 2 noise

Is it related to road speed or engine speed, road related suspect the CV joint. jack the front off the ground and place on chassis stands, then start you engine. put it in gear and the clicking will go mad, find out which one it is. VERY IMPORTANT apply your brakes until your wheels stop completely before returning to park, not doing this will damage the park locking device, if it is relative to engine speed check for a crack in the exhaust manifold

I have a 2007 Suzuki xl7. When I first start down the road it seems to drive fine but within 1/2 to 1 mile it starts running very rough, leaping along. This goes for about another 1 to 3 miles. It runs...

ok and XL 7 but what engine options. gas, diesel, 2L , 2.5L?
what?
and most important , and never ever 1 time stated on this forum
what country.
leaping?

im not sure what you are saying.
it runs ok cold, and as it warms , the engine. it stalls.?
and what does same thing mean.?
my guess, it starts fine then stalls; hot.
but can you save the stall?

stalling is complex. can be many systems in the car.
but can be broken down to :
Ever did the 60k mile tune up,ever? if not why not.
never skip 60k\'s or the motor will run like garbage.

1: lost electrical power. to EFI .
2: bad engine, in that when it gets hot , it loses compression.
3: lost park. 1 or more cylinders, 4 or 6 you never said.
4: bad injection. 1 or 6 of them, flooding or starving.
5: bad fuel.
6:EGR sticking , usually this happens just before a stop sign.
7: if the stall was a bog and the fast right foot saved the stall, easy
the ISC is sticking closed.

I washed down the engine, shortly after I went to pick up my paycheck, drove five miles, everythings ok I drive .3 miles stop at stop sign, take off and the car stalls and cel comes on.I restart the car...

.with all the sensors and electronics made of plastic,if they are hot and you put water on them they can crack and get water in them. They might send the wrong message to your engine control module (computer)

Car stalls

Hey jkcalli!
Have you checked for any error codes?
Since your car is an 850 you should check your fuel pump relay, which is infamous for causing intermittent starting problems. Open the hood and remove the fuse box cover (4 torx screws), revealing the relays. If one of them is a green one marked 103 you should replace it with the newer, improved red relay. A used relay is cheap and should do just fine.

Also, you should be able to hear the fuel pump working when turning the ignition to on. After doing this a couple of times the pressure becomes high enough for the pump not to engage. If so wait for the pressure to drop before listening for it again.
Here's a topic with some info on the relay and how to check the voltage at the pump:http://www.volvo-forums.com/index.php?showtopic=15505&st=80&p=80586&#entry80586

If fuel delivery is not the problem you should check for spark. If you do not have spark the problem is likely coil, camshaft position sensor or crankshaft position sensor.
Good luck!

1995 Taurus Engine Stalls

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
