Question about 1983 Honda Civic

3 Answers

I have an '89 Honda Civic with 58,000 original miles on it. It started right up, then died within a couple of seconds. Now it will not start. I am getting spark to the plugs, and fuel to the pgm. Also, I pulled the valve cover, and both the valves and the pistons appear to be moving as they should. What should be the next thing I check ?

Yes, I did check the timing belt. That was my reason for pulling the valve cover off. It has that crazy programmed fuel injection on it, and I have never fooled with one, So as far as I went on that was to make sure I had fuel coming up to that point

No, I have not checked the fuel pressure. How likely is that considering it has been running perfect, then all of a sudden as I was going out to go to work it just wouldnt act right ?

Spray some starting fluid in the intake and try to start it again, with fuel injection you may not be getting enough fuel pressure for the car to start and run.

My 1998 honda civic died when i was driving it. It cranks but dosn't start it also makes a noice at the beginning could it be the fuel pump?

How many miles are on it? Did you have the timing belt changed at 90,000 miles? Is there spark to the spark plugs? Do you have fuel pressure at the fuel rail? A broken timing belt will make the car sound alot different than normal when cranking.

Have a 2002 Honda Civic that will turn over but will not crank,

check your owners manual for a fuel pump shut off switch if it has one, reset it, check for a blown fuse for the fuel pump, if that dosent work, check to make sure no wires got pinched in the bell housing between motor and transmisson.

did they check radiator cap? Or your reservoir? My car did same thing, they flushed air out of cooling system, and replaced thermostat.
