Question about 2006 Chevrolet Colorado

2 Answers

How do you test abs wheel sensors on 2006 Colorado. i have performed probably 100 brake jobs but this one is giving me problems. The brake job went without incident but the abs light and abs fault message came on during test drive. There is no apparent damage, sensor alignment is good, elect. connection is tight, etc. If there is no way to test, how do you replace them, they appear to be pressed on the hub.

With a scanner driving. all should read the same., yes they are in the hub and need to be replaced as a whole. You could ohm them to see if one is bad but alot of times this is inconclusive. You will have better luck driving and monitoring the sensors.

Why is my abs brake default light coming on?

The shop either didn't bleed the brakes properly, or didn't install drum parts properly or knocked some sensor out of position or unplugged it. Return to the repair shop.

My abs, traction, and brake lights are on after a front brake and bearing job were done

By "were done" I am guessing someone else did the job for you. It is a common error at garages to forget to reconnect the sensors so that is my first thought but then you say you changed the front sensors, was that after the brake job and do you have 4 wheel ABS? The plugs for the sensors should always be cleaned if not replaced after a brake job in my opinion (high dirt area). More info will get you a better answer if you post back I may be able to help more/better.

If the ABS light comes on, you've got trouble codes stored. Get the codes read. This is usually caused by bad wheel speed sensor, rust on the tone ring or metallic crud on the sensor

My cruise light is blinking on and off, although cruise is not on, and my check engine and traction control warning lights are illuminated. I just had brakes worked on last week, could they have done...

well the cruise light is blinking probably becuase its telling you its notworking due to the fact the abs/traction lights are on,youre saying you just got a brake job done, i would guess either they unplugged the abs sensor to gain acess to the brakes or the sensor for the abs got dirty when they disrupted the brakes by removeing them to do the brake job, first thing i would do is peek at each wheel and see if the abs sensors are plugged in, if they are the next thing i would do , is remove each of the front sensors and clean them with brake clean or something like that,,the sensors are little magnets and sometimes when working in that area rust and dust and stuff gets on them and interupts the signal and casues all the problems you have list,,,,hope that helps,,,or take it back to where you got the brakes done and tell them about it and they should look at it and maybe fix it for free ,,,

Abs brakes making noise.

Well the abs light reads wheel speed sensors located behind the rotors you will see a little wheel with notchs in it and when reads as if the wheel is locked up it will activate the abs i would inspect those sensors for damage possible one got bent or has junk on it interfearing with the signal and take it back to the place that did the brake job hope this helps

2004 focus brake & ABS light on

Ok the reason I ask is that will help to pinpoint the concern. See ABS system when you first turn the ignition on will do a self test on itself, light turns on for a few seconds then turns off if everything proves out. Then when you start driving once you reach about 12 mph it will activate the pump and perform a 2nd self test.If everything is ok light stays off,if it see's a problem it turns on the light and disables the ABS.
Since yours comes on after you start driving then problem is most likely a wheel speed sensor concern. Since you just did a rear brake job and the problem started after this I would say it is one of the rear sensors. You need to look at the sensors and make sure the sensor and ring look ok and that you didn't get grease or dirt in the teeth of the sensor ring or maybe bent the end of one of the sensors and make the gap larger between sensor and ring.
