Question about 2003 BMW 330

1 Answer

My 2003 BMW 330i's Power Steering has quit working all of a sudden. I checked the round resivoir next to the oil filter and it is full. I did bottom out on a speed bump a short while before, but did not loose power steering right away.

your catalytic converter is likely dying. Doesn't affect the car but you will probably fail your next emisssions inspection.

Hii i am new here.i have a bmw 330i 2003.i bought it from one week and the light of the engine oil is flashing on and off and it disappear suddenly.i don't know the reason please can anyone helps me to...

Check the oil level,
Add if necessary.
You might even need an oil change due to a clogged oil filter.
If the car might have been sitting for a long time this could be the problem because the filter elements can dry up causing a incorrect flow of oil to occur.
At worst the oil pressure sending sensor cuold be bad but I highly doubt it.
If oil level is correct the oil change should be the best bet.
Good luck,Gary

2006 bmw 325i...where is the power steering reservior.

The power steering reservoir should be just under the oil filter housing (round black case with a large nut on the top). It should have a star-shaped handle on it.

E46 BMWs use ATF in their power steering so make sure you use the right fluid.

2006 330i Need to add power steering fluid, but can't identify which is power steering resevoir.

This is wrong!!!! This will destroy your car. The power sterring fluid say ATF only, putting power sterring in it will destroy the steering.

Automatic steering wheel feature

Since both problems surfaced at the same time...this indicates they are on the same circuit. Since both features would not quit working at once, I'd bet the farm that neither is getting power. I'd start at the fuse box, If all good there, maybe a relay. Also check all other power functions if these solutions don't work to see if anything else is effected.

Small oil leak

Most likely it is your ATF container is leaking were the two hoses on the bottom connect to it. Also there is an o-ring on the cap that can be replaced. Replace the hose clamps at the bottom with quality claps with rounded over edges. Try this part number at Bavarian Autosport, CL 16-25. Here is the BMW part number for the o-ring: 32411128333. The o-ring on the oil filter cover comes with and is replaced with the filter.

2003 BMW 325I Power Steering

when looking at the engine with the hood up, look to the right hand side for something that looks like this (#1 in the pic):

it will be black in color, but don't confuse it with the oil filter housing. power steering reservoir will have a unique cap (#2 in the pic) that can be removed with your hand. the one that has the large nut on top is the oil filter. remove the cap and put in the correct fluid.

hope this helped.
