I own a 2003 proton jumbuck ute and want to replace drive shafts, the outer wheel end not a problem but need to know what I have to do to release drive shafts from gearbox end. thank you for your time

most cv axles or held in the gear box /diff by a round sectioned circlip at the end of the splines in the diff
once you have the axle free of the hub and bearings use a heavy hammer on the back side of the cv joint or a heavy slide hammer attached to the end of the axle
you have to compress that circlip so that it allows the axles to slide out

this? quote.:
Maruti Suzuki India launched a new version of the first generation Alto in the Indian auto market in August 2010, the Alto K10.[30] The new Maruti Alto K10 is equipped with the company's 1.0L, K-series petrol engine which also currently powers the Celerio and Wagon R. The K10B engine delivers 68 PS (50 kW) of maximum power at 6,200rpm with 90 N·m (66 lb·ft; 9 kg·m) of maximum torque at 3200 rpm. The K10 has a redesigned front end, with more sculpted headlights. This spelled the end for the F10-engined model, while the F8-engined Alto was replaced by the all new Alto 800 in late 2012. The Alto K10 remained in production until 2014.

I have recently replaced the cv shafts on my 2005 Pontiac g6 and it keeps kicking them back out when I stop

Never worked on this car to be honest but if the drive shafts are coming away from the gearbox end then i would look at the end of the shafts where they enter the diff as it could be that you havent fitted the circlips that hold the shaft in ?

Where to get a circlip for a axle on a suzuki esteem 1.8l?

Your best hope is to go to or phone your nearest suzuki dealer so you get the EXACT sized one or really good auto parts centre/. friend.

Both Ebay uk and USA seem to only have the Land Rover ones.

I cannot simply "pry" out the passenger side front cv axle from the differential case. I've tried turning at increments and prying, but still no luck. What could be the cause of it seizing like this?...

It wont come out easily but yes it 'should' just pull out. I've not worked on one of this model (heyy, who shouted Shut-Up then ??), but i've viewed one of these shafts online and it's just a standard design.

The shaft is long and splined, with a circlip an inch from the end. Thats clip, togther with the vacuum from inside the diff made by oil sealing it up, and the fact that it's got long splines, means it will do it's best to stay in there.

Whenever I do drive shafts, i clear everything out of the way as much as I can, and use 2 pry bars between the CV and the diff casing (if possible). Remember that if it's even slightly off center then the splines will cause friction, and the more you force it, the greater the friction, so it'll fight against itself.

2 bars, at either side of the CV joint exactly, and pulling evenly, will eventually move it.

Ive only had one so far where the splines actually had rust on them, and wow that took some force, but it did move eventually. That one eventually need heating and cooling a few times to crack the rust (well i'd tried everything else possible by then!).

Sounds like the ball carrier on your CV has come lose with that much play :-( I've had a couple where the carrier which is machined onto the splined shaft has actually managed to break lose and give that play.

Hope that helps in some way, best of luck.

How to replace front cv shafts ?

remove inner cv boot, just on inside edge is circlip which holds inner bearing joint into outer housing remove circlip and separate joint outer housing does not come out of front diff unless you drop or remove whole front diff assembly
will have to remove whole stub axle hub assembly to remove drive shaft from outer wheel stub axle (hub) assembly

look when n/s shaft out into diff, look close for chips and circlip. u will understand how it should be when u look.
