High rpm shifting, check engine light...

In every gear it take all the way in between 3000-4000rpm to shift, you can let off the gas and it'll shift on its own. Loud whinning/air flow when driving... check engine light is on... some one was telling me about the sensor for the trani that tells the speed??? could possibly be the problem, is that a at home fix or has to be hundreds at the shop...?

Im not sure what type of autoparts stores are available in your area but most have OBD machines that they can use for free to determine why ur check engine light is on; they will even give you a printout of the problems detected. I would go there first to make sure that it is your tranny speed module. If it is they can usually help wlak you thru the process to replace or you can buy the Haynes manual for that vehicle which will give you step by step replacement instructions on it

2005 chrysler Sebring occasionally wont shift gears or acts like its in neutral

run fault codes and check for TCM problem . Change the fluid and clean the filter. Have a pressure test done on the box to check for internal mechanical problems. While the pan is off have the bands and clutch pack adjustment checked.

Takes time shifting, and won't shift into high gear unless you gas on it.

May check fluid level and if low would more than likely indicate a leak. could also be a sensor that controls the shifting. does check engine light come on and if so,this could indicate a bad sensor.

Maybe the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) if the computer thinks it is all the way to the floor then the gears would not shift until the engine RPM is real high. Also would not be able to determine the car is supposed to be idling. Do you have a check engine light? If you do this may come up on a scanner.

Replace the shift solenoids (there are two) inside the tranny, just in front of and to the right of the tranny filter.
