SOURCE: cant find where to add transmission fluid

on some of the newer cars they dont have dipsticks they have a plug near the pan that you have to pull on the trans to check the fluid level and to fill it there is a cap hidden on top of the trans by all the stuff you have to try to bend a funnel around to get in it. dont you love the engineers

SOURCE: adding transmission fluid to a 2002 pontiac grand prix se

I am not sure which engine you have on your 202 Grand Prix, but if you have the most common 3800 V6 this is where it should be. Look at the back of the engine compartment just to the left of the plastic master cylinder resevoir.
Here is a picture you can look at...

SOURCE: adding transmission fluid to 1992 BMW 525i.

On the driver side of the transmission pan there is a fill plug. The car must be in the air and level. With the car running fluid will run out of the plug hole when it is full. This is no fun without a lift.

On the bottom of the trans pan, there should be instructions.

You warm up the trans to 180 degrees or more, hold the drain plug with a 22mm wrench or 7/8",then remove the 1/8" pipe plug in the center with a torx bit.
If filled correctly fluid should just barely run out.

Capacity is around 12 quarts total.
You only get about four to four and a half, if you remove the drain plug or remove the pan to change the filter. Some extra will drain down while your doing the filter.
You need to have a special container that hold two quarts at a time, then you put an air hose to it,to pressurize, and blow the new fluid in,warm up,and any extra will drain back into your fill container.
I found on my Lincoln LS, you can fill it by removing the 3/8" tail housing plug. The other rear drive fords may be similar.

You want to get the old fluid out including your power steering every couple years or 30,000 miles.

I drained mine twice, ( 8 quarts),drove it two weeks to make sure it shifted okey, then repeated. (16 quarts total) I prefer that to a flush machine. I used to own a trans shop.

Use Mercon V and a bottle or two of Red Lubegard on final refill.
Use the power steering additive from lubegard with the correct P/S Fluid.
They are the only two chemicals I ever use on a vehicle, that I know ,not only work, but are necessary on some foreign trans.

If you look at the drain plug when it is out,you will see an extension tube. That is how the correct level is obtained with the torx plug out and fluid warmed up. You need the vehicle up on stands and level,so you can get under it.

How do I add transmission fluid to a 1996 concorde with a 3.5 liter eng?

Buy a funnel with a long flexible hose, and place the end of it in the transmission fluid dipstick hole. Add no more than a a few ounces of fluid at a time before rechecking the levels - preferably while the transmission is hot and the motor running.

Transmission fluid

You need to remove transmission dipstick, use the narow long funnel and pour the transmission fluid that way. Please check the level of transmission fluid only when vehicle was driven for at least half an hour. Park the vehicle on level surface and whit engine off check the transmission dipstick for range of fluid . If fluid is low add carefully to the center mark of the dipstick between minimum and maximum range. Drive vehicle or select each gear down and back holding your brake and at each gear for 10 seconds up and down the shifter. Check the level again and add if needed. Repeat til you have reach that level. Do not overfill it!

Add the fluid through the same hole you check the fluid with. Pull the dipstick out and insert a small funnel in the dipstick hole. this will work fine.

How do i add transmission fluid to my 1996 camry?

If you have a dipstick under your hood for the tranny fluid, then fill it in there slowly... if not, you'll need to fill it through the filler plug that will be on the side of the transmission just above the halfway point

Transmission fluid

I assume u found the dipstick to check the fluid level? Use a funnel to add fluid at the dipstick tube, slowly, while engine is running. Shift thru the gears several times, recheck level, don't overfill.
