Question about 2006 Suzuki Swift

Open Question

Tachometer with gauge is irregular (Ref: Suzuki df50 outboard)

The rpm needle does not work properly. I have to knock on the glass top move the needle but it does not stay where it is supposed to be.
Is it faulty or a wire connection is loose?

Tachometer is not showing RPM in 2006 buick lucerne 4.7L and vehicle is shifting hard. All other gauges are working normally. Knock sensor code and crankshaft position code are showing.

Do the diagnostics for the codes . Fix the wiring , replace the sensor , or PCM , what ever the problem an everything will be good .

RPM tachometer needle is erratic when the gas pedal is engaged

More than likely the tachometer is defective, the little motor that moves the needle is failing, this is called the "Stepper Motor" The cluster can be repaired, check online for repair sites, cost around $200.00 US

Macsry2k answer makes the the most trouble shooting sense. Problem is definitely electric. Since the alternator is where the RPM reading comes from, this is the best place to start. Good luck!

Car: Nissan Maxima SE 1997 tachometer broken

the dash voltage egulator probably went bad. First, check the battery & make sure you have 12 volts, not running. Check it again running & you should see about 14.5 volts. If that's good,I'd replace the guage assembly.

Tachometer is all the way over past 7000 RPM

this is caused by a failure of the little circuit board that moves the tach needle, u can have this repaired by any GM authorized repair center,( this is not at the dealer) ask the dealer for a name and number, they are also availiable on the internet.

2002 vw jetta tdi - problem with rpm gauge?

Hi, Did you notice the motor actually reving higher when the tachometer was reading a higher rpm.. If it was it could be your transmission slipping.. Set your cruise control and listen to your motor while the tachometer starts moving erratically.. Good Luck
