The fuse system is in your owners manuel.most of the fuses are located these days un the hood.if it is not the fuse try looking at the rear tail light to make sure it does not have or have had water in it and caused corrosion.

Power for the brake lights travel thru a light failure sensor which could have failed. The third brake light does not involve the sensor.
If both brake light bulbs have no voltage, the sensor may have failed.

Over time corrosion can accumulated and rust out a tail light socket and render it non-functioning. Yes it can be replaced and in your case for about $6.00. You can find these at most any auto parts store.

Jaguar xj6 break light cancels signal

Replace the turn signal switch. Bad contact inside causing a crossing of the circuits. When the turn signal is applied it should open the brake light circuit allowing for just the signal to work. Doesn't sound like the switch is doing it's job.

Drivers side parking light inop. I changed the bulb and checked the under hood fuze box, all ok. Is ther anoughther fuze box?

If the other parking lights work the fuse is good their all on the same fuse. The socket ( pigtail can be bad and or the wire is broken somwhere. Follow the wire and find its break or disconnection

Just the top rear break light works , 01 grand cheerokee

Break lights go through the turn signal switch in the steering column. Look there for broken parts OR missing power to the switch....... Hope for a blown fuse or burnt wire.

I had the same problem with my 2001. I found it was the multi function switch. Better known as your turn signal switch. I found that the hazard switch portion of it had shorted. replacement is fairly easy, aftermarket part is available, much cheaper than GM.
