Question about 1999 Dodge Durango

1 Answer

I have a 1999 Dodge durango and the alarm is stuck in activate mode, the hand held remote won't shut it off, I can't start my car. Help! I have unhooked the battery....I have looked for a reset button/valet/overide button NONE!!!! I can't afford to have it towed 30 miles to a dealer to look at it.

Not sure but I think its factory. There is no reset button or valet switch or toggle switch I have looked everywhere. I have unhooked the battery..... Yes that was the first thing I checked, put brand new batteries in bot remotes......

Thank-You for the information it worked. You saved me $$$$$$$ in towing fees, just wanted to say THANK YOU :)

Is it an aftermarket security system?? If so there has to be a valet switch somewhere unless it was never installed as it is a removable part of the alarm. Also have you checked the battery in the remote? It might be that simple

Where is the fuse box on my '99 Durango SLT 5.2?

. most likely you need to change the remote battery. It's responcable for many things working correctly. my daughters car locked on her and the alarm sounded and had to disconnect battery in her car to get alarm to stop. when a theft is in process the vehicle takes over and don't allow it to crank and the radio also stops working along with other things. so try battery first in remote.

I lost the remore to my Dodge Durango. The keys

Try lock the car back up, with key unlock car, try it on both sides. Some times that will disable the theft system.

Car alarm keep going on an lost the car remote how do i reset it or stop it from going off

YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE ALL THE DOORS ARE SHUT WHEN THE ALARM IS GOING OFF!!!
THEN STICK YOUR KEY IN THE DRIVERS DOOR AND TURN IT TO THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT 1 OR 2 TIMES IN THE SAME DIRECTION AND IT SHOULD DISARM THE ALARM!!

Alarm

Mine has done this and i as well do not have a working remote. To disengage it just put the key in the driver door lock and turn for 2-3 seconds and it will disengage. i didn't even know mine had an alarm until coming out of work one night and it went off and i could not get it to turn off unless i went to "unlock" the door and hold it there for a few seconds.

HORN DOES NOT WORK ON 1999 DODGE DURANGO

The horn is a simple circuit. Check your fuse, and see if you get power to the horn itself. The remote start and alarm are separate problems, and probably need a technician to straighten out.
