What could be causing rattling under the hood when sitting still?

Many things can cause your problem but the most common is either a heat shield or a retaining clip that has come loose. My recommendation is to block your wheels so that your vehicle can't roll forward, open your hood, start your vehicle, HOLD YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, have an assistant listen to see if they can locate the noise. If the noise is gone with the hood open then look for any shiny spots on the underside of the hood.

Please make sure earth/ground points are tight and free of dirt and corrosion. especially knowing this is off road car. fuses are clean. charge relay is working correctly, main fuse CONNECTIONS are good. the fact that it happens when you move , means most likely a loose connection.

Won't go back

If your vehicle is fitted with automatic gear box sounds that you are going to loose the transmission. For not going on reverse like having locked wheels,I believe looks like the brake bands in the gear box are the reason and the minimal power you have for forward drive are the clutches which are slipping. Visit an experts shop and please do not force it.

When driving down the road the steering wheel will yank to one side ever so often and i dont know what the problem is. i have had an alignment done and replaced the upper and lower ball joints and pitman...

Your truck is built with electronic power steering assist, meaning there is an electric solenoid on the power steering pump and a steering wheel position sensor on the bottom of the steering column. Have it checked for codes first.

The position sensor causes weird problems.

The steering gear can also bypass fluid to the wrong side of the valve. When the yank happens is the steering wheel in about the same place?

Be careful when driving the truck until you get it fixed.

Weather related electrical problems

I had this problem with mine. Do not ever use a automated car wash on your ALERO----it destroys the seal around the window. Then, when you drive in rain, water leaks into the fuse box, shorting it out. I had to replace the fuse box ($500). Hope this helps.
