If you've got a few $$ to risk ,try some synthetic oil with new filter ...it often work good for these kind of noise as long as it is not a loud knoking nois ...if it is only a fast clic clic nois it will probably work!

What would cause a Ticking noise in a jeep grand cherokee

Most time a ticking noise is caused by a valve lifter malfunction or a worn pivot on a rocker arm. if the noise appears to be coming from the valve cover (inside) that's usually where the problem is. Depending upon which engine you have the repair procedure will vary. (consult a haynes or chilton manual)
Before taking anything apart though many times a lifter noise will respond to a good engine additive like marvel oil or lucas engine conditioner. Neither one will harm the engine and it may quiet it down for you!

I have a ticking noise coming from what I believe to be the crankshaft angle sensor. It goes in where the distributor use to go on the right side of the engine block. Is there anything special about...

No special rules or tools to replace. If you get a used part you will need to get a spacing shim that sticks to the end to correctly space it to the flexplate. Otherwise a new one should just unbolt and go right back together.

Cherokee intermitant grinding noise in neutral

Is it when the engine first starts? It sounds like to me that the starter is getting stuck in the fly wheel. what happens is when you go to start it, the solenoid push's the gear out and spins the gear almost one full action, the grinding noise could be the starter staying engaged after the motor has starter but quickly comes out of it after driving out of it. just a thought.

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee just started making a clicking or rattling noise when starting up. The noise isn't audiable when driving. I've checked the oil level and it is normal. It is time for an oil change,...

so it goes away after a bit, that could be cause theres no oil on the top part of your engine, thats normal. wait till it gets older, it will be louder.

Life expentancy of 1996 grand jeep cherokee engine

If the engine doesnt smoke to much and if you dont have to add much oil between oil changes and you cant hear any unusal noises from the engine you should be able to run that car for many more miles. My dad has a 92 Jeep Cherokee and he over 300,000 miles on it and it still goes as long as you take care of it with regular oil changes you should have no problems
