Knock in front end

Links are easy but getting old ones off is the hardest part. Wheels off and soak 2 nuts on each side upper and lower, and let sit 1/2 hour. You should also change the bushing 2 bolts each, where the lower part of links go into stabilizer bar, the bushing hold the bar in place. It is all connected to a front end knock/ banging noise. the fix should get rid of noise.

Jeep with lift kit installed shakes and shimmies when speed is over 55 mph especially when brakes are applied or hit a bump.

The notorious "Death Wobble". You need to go out and buy 2 stabilizer links for the front end. They look like glorifed shock absorbers. One end attachs to the frame and the other to the drag link. You need 2, don't bother trying to cheap out with 1. There's a reason why they call it "Death Wobble"

I hear a rattling noise in the front when going over holes or bumps in the road at a moderate speed. I am worried that whatever it is is going to be costly...what do you think it is?

My first thought is the stabilizer links are worn or broken. Not a big deal and relatively inexpensive to replace.

If the links are not bad you still need to find out what is causing the rattle. Knowing what is wrong and dealing with it is always a much better and usually cheaper solution than putting it off because your worried about the cost and then having something important break. When things break its always more expensive[e if not a hazard to your self and the people driving either with you or around you.

Why does jeep cherokee shake like crazy when ur driving and you hit a bump

Hello there.
I have seen this happen with the Jeep Cherokee often.
This vehicle uses a steering stabilizer (like a shock absorber) mounted to the drag link off the pitman arm..
The stabilizer leaks out it's oil and allows the steering to go into a speed shake.
While you are checking that part out it would be a good idea to check your other steering components and suspension.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Shakey sterring during turns and hitting bumps.

1. You might wanna take a look at your brake system, brake disk and pads.

2. The steering rack must have gone bad though it might just be the packing rubbers that are worn; or

3. The tie-rods must have been loose.

Cheers and do rate this solution.

Rear Suspension noise on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8

Check sway bar. On some models as suspension sags, sway bar outer ends will contact the body, leaving a mark or dent just above the end, causing a bang over bumps. Only way to correct this is to change springs or add a spring lift.
