Yes, if the vehicle is still taking all gears then thats a good thing. check to make sure your getting the right fuel pressure at the engine, check all fuse and relays, check the transmission fluid, check to make sure its at the proper mark, check for the right colour, should be reddish colour, check for a burnt smell.

Engine failsafe mode light stays on . Explorer was running fine before being parked for three weeks. Found the accessory switch was left on and battery completely dead. Recharged battery and restarted to...

I don't know how old the battery is but just to make sure its ok have it load tested. If battery is good after load testing then have vehicle scanned for codes and see what ECU says about the fail safe lite( what made it come on). Lastly have codes removes and ECU reset.
Usually if you didn't have an electrical problem (battery dying) I would say the output shaft is worn time for a rebuild.

98 ford explorer cranks but won't run.

it means that the key(s) needs to be recoded to the car, when you did the wheel you wiped the codes out.....the transponders are in the keys.
the car thinks its not you/your keys.

Where ae the oxygen sensors on a 1994 ford explorer?

Follow your manifolds. You will have 2 on each side before your exhaust splits. 1 will be a 3-4 feet after the manifold on each side and you should have 1 near your converters.

When does the transmisson need serviced?

I recommend that the fluid be changed and the screen cleaned every 40,000 miles. Good Luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful!

Wont start

Makes sure there is no corrosion on the battery where the cables connect to it ( white ash looking stuff ). Also if you get it running take it to an auto parts store like auto-zone and have the charging system and battery tested, most stores do it for free. If the charging system and battery are ok it could be a faulty starter causing the battery to drain.

1994 ford explorer

The first thing you need to fix is the fact that it will not go into park. I think the shift lever is maladjusted. There should be a way to adjust it near the transmission. Get this dealt with because I am thinking it could be a simple problem. If after you get it adjusted, it still does not immediately kick in to drive, then I think you have a serious tranny problem. You did not say how many miles were on the car, but if it has high miles (more than 100,000) and it has not ever been rebuilt, then it will probably need to be. The trannys in these Explorers were notoriously bad.
