It sounds like you might have blown an axle. Especially if there has never been any transmission problems before. You said the fluid looks fine, and by that I take it to mean the fluid is clean and red, and its full. A blown axle will make the click noise, as the splines on the end of the axle are trying to mesh with the splines inside the transmission. The problem could be in the trans., but I'd pull the axles out first and check them, as axles are a lot cheaper and easier to change than a transmission.

Ok, I have an 03 cadillac cts, and out of nowhere my car started shifting hard (up n down) so I stopped driving the car to look under the hood, I thought I had a trans fluid leak or something... Didn't...

Have you checked the transmission fluid level. Hard changing or slipping can be caused by low fluid level. If it is not this, then you will need to take it to a transmission specialist to have them diagnose it.

I mean - its unlikely that reverse would be torn up - unless some one grinded the heck out of it.. Or had trouble getting it in & slammed it in maybe breaking a few teath..

Is it still fine? Some people, even mechanics, think you can use transmission fluid other that ATF+3 or ATF+4. YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT use even a drop in your transmission. If there is ANY, completely drain and fill with proper fluid.

What did I do to my transmission?!?!?

You stated that you checked the fluid level, I'll assume you did that correctly (engine running at idle, tranny at operating temp, level ground).
Have you ever had the fluid and filter replaced? the filter could be clogged, now allowing the fluid to circulate as needed.
