I have a fuel problem in a 1993 Tahoe 4.3 six cyllinder. I figure it is either the injectors or the fuel pump. How do I tell which is the problem?

The best way is to check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. This will tell you whether you are getting good pressure from the pump. If you are, then look at the injectors or possibly the fuel pressure regulator as being the cause of your fuel problem. Hope this helped and best wishes.

misfiring can also be from low fuel pressure and faulty injectors and not electrical alone. Run fault codes instead of guessing and costing money and have a fuel pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check for faulty pump-fuel pressure regulator and filters

My 97 tahoe the rpm's start going funny engine startes running like its missing popping and ******* and die's it has new fuel pump ,sending unit ,rotor, cap.cam censor ,fuel relay everytime i c

I'm assuming you replaced the fuel filter when you did the pump.
You'll have to try to figure out if you are loosing fuel to the injectors or spark to the plugs to proceed.
Its possible something is failing inside the distributor among other things.
I'm also assuming you have checked the computer for trouble codes.

The rubber o-rings fell out of the fuel line, and I need to know what order they are supposed to be in so I can put them back correctly.

emove the six reverse torx bolts from the fuel rail using an E7 star socket. You may notice that the paper fuel rail gasket is starting to or maybe already has broken between the intake ports. This will cause a lean code condition. (P0171 and P0174)
2. Gently pry the fuel rail off of the lower intake and the six injectors. Note the orientation of the injectors beforehand.
3. Remove all six injectors and discard all 12 o-rings.
4. Thoroughly clean all gasket surfaces and o-ring surfaces.
5. Clean the o-ring areas on all the injectors.
6. Put new o-rings on the injectors. A light film of motor oil on the o-rings will help in seating the injectors.
7. Put the injectors into the lower intake.
8. Put new paper gasket between the fuel rail and lower intake and make sure all of the injectors are seated into the fuel rail.
9. Put the six reverse torx bolts back in and torque them down in this sequence:
<Firewall 1 3 5
............ 6 4 2
To 12-16 N*m (9-11 lb*ft)

reassembly is the reverse of the dissassembly. after you get this done, get you a cold one. heck get two. you deserve it.

(you can let the children and small animals back in the area now)

Fuel System Mystery

check for fire to the pump.one wire should stay hot the whole time the switch is on this is fuel gauge and 1 should be hot for a few sec's after switch is turned on then stop this is pump if you have fire i recomend using an a/c delco pump it'll cost a little more but you won't be pulling the tank again i've learned the hard way using cheap fuel pumps it don't pay when you have to put 3 or 4 in before you get a good one.hope this helps

J30 injector problem?

Switch the fuel injector from number six to number one. Does the number six cylinder still have the same problem? If so the injector is not your problem. If number six injector is fine now and number one has the problem. Then replace the number one fuel injector with a new one. It must have been defective.

1998 Chevrolet Tahoe died and won't start

I would check the voltage going in and coming out of your fuel relay. If that doesn't shed any light, I'd move on to checking the fuel pump. It's possible that your fuel filter or perhaps your injectors are clogged, but unlikely that either would be so clogged that it would prevent your truck from starting. Hope this can help shed some light on your issue. Have a great day!
