My Jeep grand Cherokee Laredo has recently started making a loud popping/clunking noise from the front end when I'm driving. I also feel it in the floor board and it makes my steering wheel shake just a little bit. What is this noise?

Clunking noise can be caused by any item in the steering, suspension or driveline. You are going to have to get under there and start checking things. anything with excessive play, showing rust from a joint boot etc. is suspect. I could write out a list and the one Item I forgot to put on there would be the item that's bad. If you can isolate the problem and need help removing it, I'm here to help!

SOURCE: 2002 grand cherokee laredo humming/grinding

sounds like you have a problem with one of your lines on your power steering or one of its components. the grinding noise could also be one of your pulleys that have gone bad too. check your steering assemby gear box.

Very very loud clunking noise from front end...

Before you look at that, check the front end. With the front wheels on the ground, wiggle them from side to side with some force and see if there is any freeplay. If there is it is probably one of the ball joints that has worn. This is quite dangerous and needs to be attended to immediately ut the cost of repairs in not high. Whilst you are checking the front end, make sure that all the mountings are tight. Anything loose can make some very interesting sounds. Another thing you can look at is the u/j on th propshaft. If you get under the car and grab the propshaft, and move it from side to side in the direction it would be going if the car was running and you can hear it clunking or there is any freeplay, that could be your problem, but the noise would be coming more from the middle of the car.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4 4.0L. Just recently bought and there's a popping noise in the front and when turning sharply it's like the wheels lock and the jeep refuses to move and it's also...

sounds like a bad cv joint in one (or both) of the front axles. is the popping sound more prevalent when in reverse, with the wheel turned? if so, i'd assume that it is a bad cv joint and one or both front axles will need to be replaced.

97 jeep grand cherokee, strange pop\clunk sound

Check the front stabilizer bar and the bushings on it. It is located under the radiator with arms that bend back to each front tire.

My 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is making a clunking noise near the front left wheel. The clunking is fast or slow in relation to the speed.

You may have a bad c/v or universal joint at the end of that front axle. If it's a c/v joint, the boot will be torn. If you have a universal joint, it will appear rusted (powdered rust showing around the dust seals) or will be loose when the wheel is off the ground and "unloaded". If they check out as good, you could have a bad hub bearing or a brake problem...you will need to take it apart and give it a good look over.
