You do not cut a hole, you remove the tank from the vehicle to access the pump.

Michael, the problem with creating an access hole is you don't know exactly where the fuel pump is and you could wind up cutting several holes before you find it. PLUS gas tanks are not that difficult to drop down, you only need to be careful to not break any plastic lines that run to it, if it has any. drop your tank from under your car.take it you know how to do that.
