Question about 1996 Cadillac DeVille
Keep in mind that, if you live in California, under current California emission law, you cannot install an engine into a car that is older than the year of the car. Here the 1996 engine is older than the 2000 chassis under which the car is titled & registered. Therefore, this swap would be illegal & impossible to register in areas of California with strict enforcement of the bi-annual smog check (even if it passed the tailpipe emission test, it would fail the visual inspection).

Yes you can. 2000 Cadillac should have a northstar already in it.
