Question about 1999 Volvo S70

1 Answer

Driver side front door makes a strong spring side when opening and closing. It seems to be in the door stop mechanism but that has been replaced and the noise continues.

Try spraying your door hinges and springs with WD-40 lubricant and then swing door back and forth several times until noise hopefully disappears. Might have to spray more than once. Best wishes!

Cherokee jeep internal lights not turning of draining battery also central locking not working having to do everthing from switch on door also alarm goes of everytime i open the door

one of the doors may not be properly closed. Check the spring by the door side, it may be weak. I recommend replacement. In the interim, use asoft object to pack this spring. the inner light will go of and battery will stop draining. Check all the fore doors to determine the one at fault. mostly driver or front passenger side.

1993 Cutlass Supreme S 4 door sedan Drivers side front door locked when door was open, the locking mechanism is stuck is stuck and the door can not be closed. How can this be fixedd?

take a screwdriver and put in gap of mechanism and apply pressure while lifting door handle the latch should open if it falls back means spring is broken on latch will need to remove door panel and the 3 screws that hold it in place can get a replacement at a salvage yard for a few bucks

Can't open driver side door

I dealt with a similar problem a few weeks ago. In this case the lock mechanism had become jammed and the lock knob would not come up resulting in the door not opening form either side. To free up the mechanism get a can of WD40 and with the little tube between the window rubber direct a spray into the general area of the lock (have window up). Do this from both sides of the glass to make sure you get the area. Let it soak in for a while and then jiggle the lock using the key and alternatively lift the knob until it is free. If this fails you can remove the door liner on the other door and to see exactly the mechanism works. To remove the liner, remove any cover caps which cover the screw heads on the armrest etc, remove the spring clip holding the door handle and then use a flat scraper blade to gently lever off the door lining having the flat blade as close to the press in fittings as possible. You usually need to have the door open to do this.

I have a 99 528i, driver side door won't open from inside or out.

to be honest i would need the car in front of me to diagnose correctly but from the sound of it the mechanism inside the door is worn, the lever that springs open the jaws has worn to the extent that it will not push the two contacts inside the lock open to allow the door pawl to swivel around releasing the door.Only way is too remove the door trim if you can and operate the mechanism with a big screwdriver to open the door then renew the mechanism
